See Woodford topped up on AZN 8th Dec citing that recent falls made the stock underpriced and worthy of adding to position. Also took a new punt on Aviva citing higher prospects for growth than its rival Legal & General in the non-life sector.

Sorry I thought these boards were here to discuss the performance of the company and the various professional opinions of same as well as our own personal views. If you simply object to any statement posted here which is either mildly critical of RR management or echoes the views of people working in the investment community who are critical of RR, what exactly do your posts bring to the show other than a seeming blanket acceptance that all is well and that we therefore have nothing to worry about?

What has Mr Davies departure got to do with any brokers opinion? It follows his sacking by Rio Tinto over bribery allegations. Likewise, what broker caused the fiasco of RRs presentation to capital markets and their seeming inability to communicate the impact of new accounting methods on thr bottom line? Finally, which broker prompted the head of Emirates to admit that there were technical problems with the Trent 900 engines destined for their A380s? Ger real rather than spouting some idealised version of company performance like some glorified PR flunky.

I imagine if you are in the real estate business then AZN will provide a major boost to your local economy (as if prices were not high enough already). Move does not do much for the Northern Powerhouse though!

SpikeyJ: as a practicing research scientist in the cancer arena I do think that the AZN oncology pipeline holds out some promise. However, it is a mixed bag and I think dear old Pascal oversold this very considerably while fending off Pfizer. I was dead against that merger as well, but for reasons other than the promise of AZN's drug development pipeline. Other moves are less favourable, such as the relocation of research activity from Cheshire to Cambridge, which could turn out to be very costly in more ways than one. I remain a holder, but have been so since sub £30 and the income I have earned over the years has been more than worth the hold alone.

I see no prospects for any recovery in RR or the stock market in general while the Brexit farce plays out. I see this back in the low 500s within 6-12 months unless the Tories get a lucky break somewhere either in the Supreme Court (V. unlikely) or the wider economy. If you buy now be prepared to hold for 5-10 years + to see any meaningful return. Question is, do you add as the depths are plumbed or just sit tight?

This stock will end up in the mid-low 30s within 6 months and the longer the Brexit farce goes on the worse the market will get overall. Essentially nothing has really happened to materially affect the prospects for AZN since the days before the aborted Pfizer bid and the stock was well under £40 a pop before that. This is essentially an income play (along with GSK) and you have to have been in this an for a long time to reap any benefits. If you do buy now then expect to have to hold for 5-10 years to see any realistic return.

Your position is extreme and the real outcome is likely to be somewhere in the middle of the scenarios you expound. We already have a fleet of all-electric taxis here, the city council has also moved over to all-electric for its car/van fleet and hybrid electric buses are all over the streets. The battery problem is not insurmountable it just needs vision (Tesla's giga factory) and a will to drive things forward. The charging point network is rapidly expanding (pace Tesla's supercharger expansion). Finally, have you ever driven a Tesla model S? Absolutely F*****G brilliant.

I just cannot see this growing or extracting more cash from subscribers. I canned SKY back in July as the subscription model was nuts with me paying top dollar for packages I never used but all tied to the sports coverage. This coincided with an upgrade to a smart TV. Needless to say I have not missed a single programme or match I wanted to see since then and have not paid anyone (bar the TV license) a red cent. Virgin (LGY) have had it too. People should get out more!
