I can’t see it being cut anytime soon, the politicians see it as a generous tax revenue scheme knowing that the oilers have 2 options, keep going to break even and stay afloat, or cease production and face asset write offs and decommissioning costs..

120k barrels per day into vehicle tankers will be 450 vehicles per day with a 45k litre tank capacity…a lot would need spending on maintenance of any existing Kenyan roads and new ones to the development. Residents nearby would protest at that number of tankers, I suppose scaling back to 12k barrels and 45 tankers maybe more acceptable but expensive transportation method

It could never have been bought for just 10p.. there was around 2.5b debt outstanding at the time that would have needed redeeming/accounting for.

Could be many reasons but I doubt it’s linked to Rahul, again we are given NO information. Maybe Tullow no longer have the in house expertise to deal with a project like this and was hoping to lean on the other partners to get over the line with their knowledge.

Tman that would be a ideal scenario, but we are getting less and less info in the updates as time goes on regarding Kenya.. now we are down to the word “Kenya” only. The next update will probably have a empty space where the word should be.. there is more than one stage to get through to FDP, we ain’t been updated where we are, or if the review period is extended which expired at the end of last year.

Talks about selling assets to reduce debt.. then talks about inorganic growth, which refers to merger or acquisition.. acquisition would then increase debt again.. so merger looks to be the game plan here, which I would not really call growth as you will get shares at a relative value then reliant on the permanent of a bigger company.. looking back at previous updates, they have so much more detail in them. Now they are vague with not much detail at all.. I question Roald Goethe rational here.. invested so much money into shares and has inside knowledge.

I get the impression Rahul has been trying to merge this with anything in sight. And will still do so by the term “inorganic growth”. he used to specialise in mergers in a previous role.. Kosmos knew of the production declines and I expect the early discussions were meant to be kept quiet until after January trading update so we were backed into a corner to accept a crap offer.. as a long term holder with a significant loss, I feel we have had no alternative than drift from quarter to quarter for years in the hope of a change of fortune..

Only solution I see to recover my huge loss here is to try trading it for 10% swings.. I expect it to bob around late teens, early 20s for several weeks.. no significant incoming news near term.

It does say a framework for growth and returns will be set out after appointment of new CEO… Rahul sat with his feet up now.

Regards Kenya, the most frustrating thing about it is there is no update from the company of the progress, the areas needing improvement, recommendations from EPRA/Kenya etc.., Tullows approach to address the sticking points… it’s just SILENCE…..
