DD - you have it wrong mate Irene is correct. Underlying is whatever the management would have you believe. As regards the actual performance - do we believe SPD have a good internet sales model? Will be interesting to see if their Internet sales are increasing at the same rate as they previously reported. As others query - Inventory needs 'examining'.

Like yourself I'm puzzled. See previous posts regarding a share buyback and cancellation and the little effect on SP. The converse is happening at Sports Direct where shares are being substantially bought back but kept in Treasury as opposed to being cancelled. Why has never been explained, but one may speculate that whilst the number or shares in circulation reduces, the NAV per share doesn't change, thus keeping the SP relatively unchanged. Speculate as ye may.

There won't have been many shares bought back today - max buyback price is 300. Spd raised it's interest in Debenhams to over 16% from over 14% probably responsible for the rise in SP today.

Midmod - don't confuse Newbrexitchurch with Newchurch. Newbc is Newchurch's stalker - doesn't like her posts and follows her across boards. Hasn't a point of view, just acting as a playground brat IMHO.

@boothen - Apologies. I was still using the figures of shares to be purchased in the original RNS of 28/7/16. Hadn't updated my fag packet for the revised numbers slipped in on RNS 5/1/17. Sly beggars! 34 ish days agreed.

At the current rate, the share buy back will end during w/c 13/3/17. and we should then see what the SP is without buying support.

Or alternatively, no one is prepared to pay more than £3 per share currently. By my reckoning, the share buyback will have run it's course by mid March, at the current rate of progress, and we should see what the market makes of the SP then.

Hi Newchurch, the advantage of scrip over drip is that as Scrip shares are new shares bought direct from the company you pay no commission or Stamp Duty thereon, both of which you pay on Drip schemeswhich are rum through a broker. For tax purposes, they are effectively the same, both are liable for Income Tax as a cash dividend would be (subject to individual's circumstances) and liable to CGT upon any sale as with any UK shares. It all seems very strange this. RNS re total voting rights usually preceeds a change in holding RNS. All of those negative broker ratings. Pennon coming up to Ex Div date yet under performing other same sector shares. Trading update due on Tuesday - what price SP then?

In the last 10 days Credit Suisse have marked this 'underperform' 680p, and Macquarie 'outperform' 950p. The sp has yet to benefit from the latter forecast, but isn't that always the way.

If you ever find out, please tell cos I need to know also.
