I'm not a pessimist but from past experience I expect the incoming Minister will say they need time to assess the Permit issue before giving a decision. The can will be kicked down the road even further!
Why hasn't legal action already been taken against the Slovenian authorities?
If we have a case for damages then we should instigate such case! To delay on that will only give them comfort to procrastinate on the Permit decision.
Or do we indeed have no case because of the way our contracts are drawn up? The silence from our partners Geonegro is deafening!
This company under it's current management is close to being BUST! Eventually taken over by 'friends of Slovenia' and the minerals extracted for their benefit.

Well it has to be somewhere, but who can we trust to verify these figures. For example, the yearly audit of gold held in Fort Knox is less than transparent/comprehensive!

BTW - I often worry about many of the newbies who buy shares, often without any knowledge of what they are getting involved in. Spoke to one such tonight in the pub who sold his SOLG shares at a loss today because he thought the CGP 20 - 1 consolidation was going to reduce the value of his SOLG shareholding by 95%! I kid you not! They are amongst us and they breed - be afraid! Be very afraid!

It was the not knowing on previous days that unsettled me, then Wednesdays 2p+ drop without knowing why which had me really unsettled. So I woke up today marginally cheered to see an early RNS which then looked a lot less than exciting. Then we went over the cliff - I'm a pensioner who went for income, got bored and looked for more excitement couple of years ago - made money in October 1987, held my nerve in a big crash - but was really depressed today. Held on when I saw not many shares were being sold off, day traders were obviously coming in with the bigger trades AND some of the honest, reliable lth's posted still positive comments (well done guys, you know who you were) stayed in and you know the rest.
Positive about SOLG and will stay here till my end target is reached, but feel sorry for anyone who has been scared out of here and lost money, but hey, chalk it down to experience.
For me, a lot more pants are going in the wash tomorrow than usual! Have fun!

Whilst I most certainly agree that better long lasting use should have been made of UK's share of North Sea Oil and Gas Income, it is somewhat unfair to compare it with Norway's. When Mrs Thatcher came to power she was having to contend with paying unemployment benefit to over 3m people (Labour isn't working) whereas the total population of Norway was a only mite over 4m! The maths were always on their side!

A couple of years ago, Mrs N provided a link to a photograph of herself looking very fetching in one of those Venitian Masks (Masquerade), at the time made me think of 60s parties at Cliveden - think Keeler, the naked waiter in the silver mask (guess who that was!) etc. I can quite believe MrsN spends her divis on sex, drugs and rock n roll. Why wouldn't you, I do. Never know when all the wheels will fall off. What use a buy back then! Rather have had the money as divis and blown it on something useless for memories of a life lived!

Precisely Herbie. A number of people on other BBs talk of the reduced number of shares after a buyback whilst forgetting about the reduction in cash.

There are many, including myself, who do not consider a share buyback to be a prudent use of funds. You may wish to read the LSE BBs of other companies currently running share buyback schemes to appreciate that the premise of any such action guaranteeing SP appreciation is at best questionable. One trusts that the BOD have the wit to find a better use of funds.
