Snige - I certainly don't believe that 'free movement of people' is a positive. I much prefer the safety of controlled movement of people and am more than happy to be subject to the restrictions countries will place on my movements when we leave the EU. I had no problem with it in the 70s, why should it bother me now?

A few years ago when Peter (Mandy) Mandelson was still earning a crust as Member for Hartlepool instead of Lording it elsewhere, he made the trip up to his constituency on the eve of a GE, safe in the knowledge that he would be returned with the usual large Labour majority. However he dutifully did the tour and gladhanded the stooges offered up to him and seized the opportunity of a 'man of the people' photo-shoot when handed a newspaper wrapped fish, chips and mushy peas. Amazed to see the green gloop in this outpost of near civilisation he reportedly explained 'ahhh, guacamole!'

Poker - 09.28 - If we aren't in the EU then alcohol, tobacco etc will have to be brought through UK customs subject to Duty Free rules as goods from Non EU countries are now. So how is this a bribe? And why do you expect to be taken seriously?

Was wondering if the sharp drop in SP yesterday and the ongoing recent decline is in any way related to this story put up on another BB - many thanks to Gnome. It concerns Australia but similar action is taking place in Canada and who knows where else and it could cost miners a lot of money!
