Think we did get it right, it was the politicians defying the electorate's mandate that failed the October coin. The electorate solved that problem in December of course and given a level playing field, the UK can get things as 'right' as anyone can.
As for your 'will anyone be better off', you only seem to quantify this in a financial sense, which possibly explains you choosing a career which would give you very early retirement on a pension the likes of which an average worker couldn't dream of. To each their own I suppose, but I for one already feel better off knowing that in a few days time my country and it's people will be free from the constraints of the EU super state, and able to once again make our own way, with successes and failures, in the big wide world.
People such as yourself will always denigrate the UK and it's people's efforts and forecast many hazards we may experience going it alone again, but rarely put up a fact based argument of the benefits of remaining in the EU especially when considering how the EU are finally confessing how it sees it's future.
One could even justifiably ask 'what has the EU ever done for us?
Lloyds definitely a hold, if only because where else in these fractious times would you put your money? Limited downside, greater upside and a healthy regular dividend while your waiting. Pip, pip!
