TOS1963 - agreed, especially as regards the 'Tax' on any sale of Alpala making it too costly an option. Of all of NM's utterings, this one seems to have been swallowed wholesale, without questions being asked. I would like to know how much is 'too costly' and can we compare it to the dilutive effects of going to production for shareholders.

Covgaz - 22:40. Just read you comment (and others) and have to say, that was the impression I got. Not a pleasant picture they paint of them sitting round the back of the bike shed giving themselves a glad hand. Most of these BBs have a clique who believe it belongs to them alone, but try to ignore them, they appear only to need each other for comfort. The hand jive club as Sir Cliff might have called them.
BTW Newtoit, one can never be certain of such things but I've never seen your quote ascribed to Oscar Wilde, but there again I thought it was Shaw what wrote it!

Must say there's much truth in many of your posts, with some ill-advised wording also, but got to admire your 'cojones' for taking on as many assailants as you do. Not motivated by anything other than the thread and for those old enough to remember these two - Iain MacLeod (Conservative) once observed of Harold Wilson (later to be Labour Prime Minister) in 1948 after Wilson made a speech in Birmingham claiming that when he was at school ‘more than half the children in my class never had any boots or shoes to their feet' - 'If Harold Wilson ever went barefoot to school, it was because he was too big for his boots.’ There was more class about the political morass in those days.

TBTT - wasn't criticising. It was a momentary downer but it's a good thing to remind one's self that all isn't necessarily sweetness and light. Nobody saw COVID coming (nothing yet proven)! Glad to be in CEY in it's current happy state and remain a LTH.

The feel of the H1 Statement to me is one of Management more under control - proactive instead of reactive. I'm wondering if Mgt are trying to even out the years results (subject of course to best mining practice) instead of last few years mediocre/poor H1 and begging/borrowing for a boom H2. Great if you know it's happening and you can trade the shares on that basis. A steadier year long SP surely makes the shares more attractive to longer term investors. Also means CEY are selling gold at the average yearly price instead of having sales concentrated in a particular half yearly period which can go either way for the bottom line. First time for 2 or 3 years I'm feeling more relaxed about CEY, though TBTT post 07:40 was a bit of a downer!

The NPV of Alpala is of course a big factor in the strike price of any predator looking to buy out SOLG. However, the BODs of such predators must also be looking at protecting their income streams 10, 20 30 etc. years hence as existing mines come to the end of their lives and new discoveries become far less frequent. Alpala, with it's projected 50 year life as a Tier 1 deposit and the possibility of more in it's portfolio, has to be an attraction to any predator wishing to secure future income streams, even if it means paying more than would have wished to do so.
