Take a look at the actual statistical odds of a phase 3 trial being successful and then add in the desperate need world over for a therapeutic in the hospital environment and helping those needing ventilators etc. The odds are very much in our favour.

Two interesting points here from the article
Earlier this month, the drugmaker released preliminary results of its study of 775 adults who contracted mild-to-moderate COVID-19.

All the participants were unvaccinated and were considered to be at high risk for hospitalization due to underlying conditions including obesity and diabetes.

I was thinking along the similar lines of what happened with EUA and others where they RNS that there was interested parties and approaches have been made.....To transact a deal, get ahead of the game, get to market etc. the due diligence would need to be started, its whether this becomes public information. Similar to any conversations with potential partners right now. If synairgen wanted they could "leak" on purpose. But all discussions points, nothing concrete. IMO if this works as the well researched believe it will, a large pharma will want it. simiples.
