In my opinion the new regs will have a negative effect across the board for spread betting companies and they could very well lose clients as a result.
Whilst I take full responsibility for my SB posistions I feel it inappropriate to receive margin calls or even mails to the affect that I am in danger of my posistions being closed the moment
the price is against me. It seems regardless of the amount of equity eg minus 30 points with a stop over 2000 points the e mails arrive everyday...May as well have an unrestricted account and work without stops .
I reiterate it's the regs but I for one am reconsidering spread betting in the future .

It's good to see the SP ruse above the ex divi declared today ...what do others understand the div payment to be in GBP

Certainties are not when contracts are signed and chips shipped...surely it's when you have been paid and the money is in your bank.....ask the Carrilion subcontractors?

Just to share an experience...I know someone who averaged down with Marconi...when it was in the pence he kept buying more and more....he even felt the brand name was worth more than the sp..alas it won't to zero..there were probably more suffered the same experience with Carrie ion

Who do you place your short posistions with for the sake of a few pence movement in an equity sp. How much do you have to fund your account with and can you quote me examples of recent short sp successes with kaz when you have exited a trade after a few southerly pip movements

Fair point ...but short selling means spread betting for me ......and they are working on 50% margins under the new regs which means as an example ..I deposit say £2000 in a spread betting company and go short on the Dow at 50 pence a point.......regardless of the fact that I finish this evening 5,10,100 points against me then I will get a margin call over night....
if indeed I am £1000 down In the future then my position will be closed...with a £1000 still on the platform,...it's a joke quite frankly

No Thursdays buy at 455 was triggered with limit sell..didn't manage to get back in until late Fri just before close at 462....didn't expect for today's cheeky sell limit to be filled at 498..Indeed probably timed this wrong but hey ho as they say....tomorrow's another day

BTW ...I don't have loyalty to any company ...a trades a trade so to speak

When you stated " touche 459" to my buy limit order being filled at 455 yesterday this suggested to me you were long ..not short unless you were covering the buys which is a very risky game... not for the faint hearted but professional traders using other people's funds ..in which case strange that you are so active on this board??

My sell limit order filled early doors today but bought back in at 1629hrs this evening ...462...probably paid to much hereasier
