My update.26 Feb 2022 20:23
Watched the news and listened to some experts on the radio today and my take so far is:
- I don't think that a lot of the Russian attack force are fully committed to this. They are going to war with their cousins.
- most of the world is against this (except Imran Khan of course)
- the Ukrainians will fight until the end. Guerilla warfare will be the norm. Many body bags.
- I feel that the Russian people or those from within will take Putin out.
The "we are doing this for our Motherland" will no longer wash IMO. The people see the disgust from around the world. They will feel the sanctions from around the world. They will have products that most countries will not buy. Their imports will drop dramatically. Money will be hard to obtain, trade or hide eventually. The people of Russia will find it hard to get around the world. Russia will be absent from many (if not all) external sporting events and events in general. They've lost the Champions League Final and the Grand Prix. What a boring life it is going to be for Russia. The only thing to look forward to is to listen to Putin's constant propaganda on the government owned tv stations. Putin and his cronies brainwashing his people just like they do in North Korea. They are even trying to take out social media so that the Russian people are blind to what is really going on.
However, the Russian people have had enough IMO. They can't even protest peacefully without been dragged in to a police van, then they'll probably get slapped around out of site. Some will go missing. Some will end up in jail. Some will hate the authorities even more for the way that they've acted when released. This guy even poisons his critics. He doesn't even have fair elections - they rigged so that he wins and the opposition are taken out. The Russian police / army need to have a hard look at themselves for being sheep that follow a dictator.
I'm less concerned about Putin's threat of nationalising anything in Russia now because I truly believe that he won't be in control in Russia for much longer. He has underestimated the world and he will soon find out that he has underestimated the grip that he has on his own people. You have embarrassed your people Mr Putin.
I urge the Russian people to rise up to this dictator, find a pair and take this idiot and his cronies out and then mend some bridges so that you can live a peaceful, democratic and more enjoyable life. Russia is living n the past at the moment. Those days have gone. The rest of the world has moved on from those days.
GLA and my thoughts go out to the BOD. They'll get us out of this mess IMO.
