As the AGM was on May 11th, we can assume this is priced in already.

These aren't huge bonuses whybother. They're employee shares being added to the register through an incentive scheme which they get at a cheaper price via an inland revenue approved scheme.

Isn't it time you sold up whybother instead of getting stressed on here and invest elsewhere ? It's hardly breaking news the continuation of the employee share incentive scheme against a share buyback. It's happened previously and will happen again in the future.

If this share drives you so crazy, isn't it time you reduced your levels of angst ?

UK economy shrank 0.1% in March

Newsflash: The UK economy contracted in March, with GDP falling by 0.1%.
That’s slightly worse than the 0% growth forecast, and will fuel concerns that economy is weakening.
The GDP report also shows there was no growth in February.
February’s GDP has been revised down to 0% growth, down from the +0.1% first estimated.

Here's hoping SUFF that they get above 62.5p in time as I know you've got a lot of these.

Let's hope there is no windfall tax on the banks. Lloyds has suffered enough in recent years with the Halifax fiasco, PPI and Covid capital funding requirements.

I'm fairly ambivalent over buybacks but the 585m new shares being issued is about 1/8th of what is being removed by the current buyback. Yes, there maybe be more shares to be printed this year but these shares are going to be printed anyway, buyback or no buyback. If there was no buyback, there would just be more shares in circulation diluting your existing holding and which require dividend payment. I'm sure you probably know this already but I'm just adding some balance to the argument.

I expect SUFF will win the prize for biggest Lloyds paper loss today. I hope for his sake these get substantially higher in the coming future.....

Get the hoover out please Morgan Stanley. US rates going up by the expect 0.5% and their banks fly. Ours go up by the the expected 0.25% and the share price suffers. As LTI points out, Sterling is weaker so I guess that accounts for some of the drop.

From memory, Lloyds rose after the last buyback was completed. Markets work in weird and wonderful ways......

Oh well, the general consensus here seems to be that Lloyds should be much higher. In the mean time let Morgan Stanley hoover up shares that can be removed from the register.

Hungary has hinted it could sink a new EU proposal for an oil import embargo on Russia as the bloc was split over new sanctions.

Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission president, proposed the total embargo on Russian oil on Wednesday morning but warned it "will not be easy".

Brussels wants the import of Russian crude oil to be phased out within six months, and refined products by the end of the year.

Slovakia and Hungary, which are up to 100 per cent reliant on Russian oil, were granted exemptions until the end of 2023. But it appears that may not be enough to prevent them from vetoing the embargo.

Hungary said in a statement: "We don't see any plan or guarantee on how even a transition could be managed on the basis of the current proposals, and what would guarantee Hungary's energy security."

EU sanctions need full unanimity from all 27 EU member states in order to come into force.

10 year UK Gilts now at 2%. I’ll be surprised if they stay at that with all the inflation slushing around. 2% base rates are unlikely to get put a lid on inflation.

I expect they’ll pass on the full 0.25% to mortgages but not the full 0.25% to savers…..

Have had the full £50k allowance for a good while and normally win a couple of prizes a month. NSI haven't put the prize rate up since base rates have started rising which is a shame. As you say, they were paying out at least 1% while the base rate was 0.1/0.25% but some account rates are higher now. I guess, we keep thinking we might win the £1m and that's what keeps us hooked on PBs.......
