Questor has tipped Lloyds this morning citing its dividend yield, in progress buyback, big capital reserves and huge discount to asset value.

The NHS is in a real mess. Totally must benefit from this one would have thought. Waiting lists for routine operations are horrific.

So from seemingly making out that you are not invested in Lloyds in that statement and saying it's none of anyone else's business whether you are or not, you are now claiming you are a Lloyds shareholder.

Take a look at the news. There is a war going on in Ukraine, inflation here is running at 9%, interest rates are rising threatening peoples ability to repay mortgages and credit card bills and a recession is looming.

Pointing out the bleeding obvious to you as to why Lloyds share price is where it is.

It depends how much the others buyback spends are PSK.

Lloyds is exposed to different market variables than Barclays for instance. It is much more UK focused. The share price movements are dictated by things other than a daily drip feed of buyback activity.

What you are failing to comprehend PSK is market capitalisation. The buyback reduces the number of share in issue. But the amount being spent on the buyback is fixed (at £2bn this time). If A and B have the same market cap, the effect of the same amount of a buyback for each company will be the same whether A has 70bn shares and B has 35bn shares. The effect on market cap is the same. The percentage increase to each share price as result of the buyback will be exactly the same.

This is like pulling teeth.

£2bn will have roughly increased the share price at current price levels by 2.8p when the buyback is complete.

Share prices move for reasons other than buybacks PSK.

What does it matter how many shares are in existence ? It’s the market capitalisation that counts i.e. number of shares x share price = Market Capitalisation
