Germany is in all sorts of problems due its stupid cosying upto Russia, the French economy is on the wane, Italy is going to need re-financing, the Eurozone has negative interest rates still and the whole bloc can't unite under a strategy to deal with Putin.

Can't believe that. I think 2 1/2% is going to cause a great deal of problems for those who have over-leveraged themselves with mortgages.

From a selfish point of view, I'd love 5% base rates, not having a mortgage anymore but borrowers tucked away mortgages for over a decade at below 1% base rates and despite the lending criteria being tightened, a lot of people have still over-stretched themselves.

Good job Currybelly that you don't live in the USA where buybacks are preferred to dividends. Get a grip. The market is going against the banks at present. The buybacks have effectively put a floor under Lloyds at the moment. If you don't like the buyback programme, why don't you sell up instead of whingeing like a bitter Remoaner or an SNP supporter ?
