I don't think 200,000 deaths can be classed as normal flu figures over a 2 year period or so. Covid was a SARS virus not an influenza one in any case. It was a novel respiratory virus that took the world by force. We can argue over and over about Covid. You won't convince me and I won't convince you so let's leave it at that.

Of course lockdowns didn't totally prevent transmission but they greatly reduced it. People were still able to go out, go to supermarkets etc etc allowing infection.

Boris was gravely ill with Covid and hospitalised. I myself was on oxygen for 2 weeks in hospital. I do wonder why people trivialise Covid. It tends to be those who weren't badly affected by it.

Yes the lockdowns you could argue prevented the NHS from being overwhelmed. Would you have wanted what happened in India to occur here where people were dying in hospital car parks unable to get treatment ?

I rather think that the lockdowns were to prevent infections and deaths and to hence stop the NHS from being overwhelmed. Whether it would have been a better idea to lockdown the old and vulnerable instead is a different matter but I hardly think it was about control. Boris is a liberal Conservative not a tyrant and he was reluctant to impose restrictions on people but decided to do so in the best interests of the country.

I have to admit, if I want a laugh in the evening when decent TV is low in quality, I can always have a look here for entertainment. There is never a dearth of morons to amuse me. I had 2 dividends paid yesterday into my Barclays Smart Investor ISA - BT and Phoenix Group. They were paid on time. My Lloyds shares are in an Aj Bell SIPP. The dividend was paid yesterday on time.

I can only suggest that the weight of Lloyds shareholders on Barclays Smart Investor is too much for their software to handle. I would demand interest if you are a large holder and are bothered by it. You will get paid.

I own 80,000 Lloyds shares. If you own 3 times as many, I should give Barclays a call in the morning if you still haven't been paid and ask them WTF ? This dividend payment s h I t happens every 6 months but everyone always gets paid in the end......

When did you buy your shares ? I have an ISA with Barclays Smart investor and the dividend is occasionally delivered at the close of play the day after the payment date (ie today)
