Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources G. Damdinnyam's visit to China continues. On the second day of the visit, he met with the country's state-owned company CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation). The meeting discussed opportunities to increase fuel supplies, ensure stable supply, and expand bilateral energy cooperation.

Representing Mongolia, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources G. Damdinnyam emphasized during the meeting that Mongolia adheres to a policy of sustainable supply of domestic fuel. CNPC representatives also presented the company's capabilities and plans to maintain stable fuel supplies to the Mongolian market and increase supply efficiency, and expressed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation in the coming years. Mongolia imports 100 percent of its fuel consumption, with Russia accounting for 95 percent, while the remaining 5 percent is supplied by China. During the official visit, the parties discussed and mutually agreed to increase the volume of this import.

Petro Matad was pleased to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PetroChina’s Mongolian affiliate.

As noted in our social media post this will help efforts to work more closely with their teams in the Tamsag region of Dornod Province.

MoU’s are common practices by companies to deepen collaboration and this agreement between Petro Matad and PetroChina represents a non-binding agreement.

Petro Matad will continue to update the market on material information that is price sensitive and in line with regulatory disclosure guidelines.

We are excited about the potential of this deeper collaboration with PetroChina and will of course provide a market update should discussions lead to commercial progress.

As announced by Seascape Energy Asia today, Mike Buck has been appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

The Board of Petro Matad support the appointment on the basis that it creates no conflict with Petro Matad’s activities and will not impact Mr Buck’s ability to perform his role as CEO.

Mr Buck’s priority remains Petro Matad’s ongoing operations.

Mongolia applying pressure and want to see a plan , the Refinery and Pipeline will not fail and under no circumstances do they want to be embarrassed borrowing nearly $2billion and not being able to feed daily requirements and it's worth about 10% of Mongolia's GDP ....PC have the infrastructure and shed loads of Equipment being made redundant as their wells dry up ....no better option than to sign a robust MOU between the 2 Companies .... PC could stop us instantly if they wished ie no road usage no haulage no refining so im more than happy with today's new's !!

The parties further noted that they will implement specific projects and programs within the framework of these memorandum and make a real contribution to the economic cooperation of the two countries

So as of today they can only feed 50% of the countries requirements ....Imagine the pressure PM / Petrovis are under !!

Basically, only when the work that you are working on and that I support through my policies is completed will our country be able to meet 50 percent of its total fuel consumption.

Mongolia’s President, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, recently paid a visit to India to discuss the Mongol refinery with India’s Secretary (East) P Kumaran. In the meeting, Kumaran noted that the progress is on track, and that India expects construction work to be completed by 2026 at the very latest and full-scale operations to kick off in 2028.

I’m happy … Huge pressure mounting on PM to finally deliver .. Mongolia will not fail , the refinery and pipeline and storage must be filled and if they are ahead of schedule as stated that’s big pressure coming our way … India no doubt imho getting involved !!! Even if we got partner now we wouldn’t be able to drill enough wells next year hence plan and pressure being applied
