Agree regarding any small rises in ACA SP is a sideshow Bob! But its good to have a much higher base for this to rise from in the eventuality of an announcement.

I'm wondering whether Barrick/Randgold will buy out ACA and then sell to the Chinese which will then unlock the deal...

I guess with a higher SP this permutation might see me claw back my 2.90 Break Even, but was not my favoured option when we were closer to a £1.

I know the resistance at the circa 1.90 level is there but the intra day highs are still creeping up..I think it will just pop up 8-10p soon.

Probably a q best answered by you BB as you're good with this sort of stuff. But anyone else please feel free to advise...Can we work out what the NAV on Acacia is (Net Asset Value) and what the share price should likely be based on that? I know there will be a big ? on stockpiled gold and whether that can realistically be counted as an Asset, but it seems to me that, with ACA being effectively part of BarrickRandgold..the NAV is a good basis to use for a valuation regardless of any deal etc....

I'm not sure what I think Stock...!!! Just want this bloody deal to happen!!! That would make logical sense, but as I have maintained for some time, this will unfortunately drag on a lot longer. I don't have a crystal ball but the Presidential Elections are in 2020 and I believe that is the sort of timescale we might be talking. This is a political not economic cycle we are in and I think we're looking at the wrong things. I am heartened to see the price up, but I personally am back of the queue and feel like I will be waiting a good year minimum to see my money back. There will be some big fanfare that Magafuli makes around a deal, as the run-up to the elections happens. ACA is a political football annoyingly,

Hi Big Bangs, I have been looking at New Builds in London and I suspect there is something more systemic in play with the market. I saw "affordable living" space which was so tiny and buildt like an Ikea showroom for £320,00 and pokey 1 bedrooms for £490,000!!. No 1 bedroom flat has been sold in the whole of a development in Chiswick, because the prices are beyond even people who can get access to "help to buy"! It is an impossibility that these flats will get sold and only a major correction, will start to free up the market. I have also seen 2 major developments in Hanger Lane area and Gallliard have stopped the building in its tracks!! I think we are at longer deeper turning point at least in London, so I agree that short term there is major risk here!!

Yes - I'm sure you guys will prove to be right. My mate works for a advisory firm that works into African Govts and when this kicked off in Tanzania, he said it would take 2 -3 years. I thought he was mad, but not so.

He doesn't have shares but is an expert in African politics and seems very laid back that it'll get fixed.

before BB accuses me of shorting, articles like the above still make me nervous, given the politics and an irrational despot who is driving Tanzania into the ground.

At least if Barrick buy out Acacia, we can get the protection of a much bigger outfit, if this should end up dragging on indefinitely.

I hope for a deal, but I'm not so sure this is just a question of time as everyone else seems to think. Magafuli is not a rational trusted person and the path the country is on will lead to ruin.

Totally agree...I laughed when Bloomberg were reporting at the start of the year, that Bitcoin was taking money away from Gold as a safe haven asset! ? ermm you what??!!! This will go back to $000's not $0000 at some point. I would ideally like more short term pain with Gold via the Fed rate hikes keeping the momentum and a strong dollar. Purely because the imbalances in the emerging markets and all that debt they've been leveraged up with, will come crashing down harder! and faster! Either way, Gold is going one way and that's up!!!:-)). Yum Yum Yum.

I really hope the agreement comes first and then the buy-out as I think we'll see more value !!! I really would love this to double. If I only make 10-15% on this over 2 years, it'll feel a miracle!! I'd really like ACA to enjoy independence with all of the interesting side projects that could come together, but I guess that'll be highly unlikely.

Am hoping to see some momentum to get us over the £2.00 mark before Christmas. Last year I averaged down at about £1.80 and saw a healthy rise to over £2.00 when I sold that chunk. I then tried to repeat the performance to then have that pretty swiftly wiped out!! Partly why its a lot less stress just to hold and forget about it!:-) Next year H1 is going to get interesting. I saw an interview with Alan Greenspan yesterday - He didn't sound too positive about the future - 1 trillion of debt the US is adding every year and accelerating.

Arguably Gold is holding up incredibly well, given the interest rate cycle, markets still close to all-time records and inflation. If investors start flocking to gold, the price rises no matter what the monetary policy might be. All we need is a global meltdown:-))

Interesting article! Thanks for posting! I'd love to know the ins and out of all the sticking points, it would be pretty fascinating. My guess is that there must be an argument as well between Barrick and Acacia about the settlement and who carries the can. We tend to think about the dynamic purely as ABX V TanzGot. Barrick set the original contract up and are the author of this crisis, so should do the right thing and dig in to their pockets, not force Acacia into a corner (if that is in fact happening).

Super this is very useful news regarding Tomatoes shortage. There are now less vegetables to throw at Magafuli's motorcade, which will embolden him to raise his demand against Acacia. I'm selling now before its too late:-))

I have always said consistently that it will be in 2019 at best, which I said as far back as the start of the year. 2020 elections and the run up to it will hold key. ABX might now help bring this forward for us by taking us out, but the resolution will take longer with a fair risk that it all goes to court.

I can't share your naive optimism about timing (which you have been entirely wrong with again and again to a point where it must be embarrassing for you?) and neither can I about the end price you so inspirationally suggest will in someway be tied to the IPO price!!! I also remember you're nonsense about the Chairman moving to AngloGold and how the deal would be done before he was going to go. In fact, most of what you write is laughable but you don't like some grounded commentary if it pops you're fluffy puffy ACA bubble I guess??
