SOLG has a mix of investors large, medium and small and all have different views based on personal involvement. We should get an update on major shareholders end of the week or via the M&DA and as past last quarter notable that the largest shareholders in SOLG are not going anywhere. Infact as we know the chinese were adding to their holdings in the open market.

Perhaps they know something that some of the doom mongers on here do not?

Anyway... these BB's are frequented more by the little guy...where it's his money rather than some fund or hedge manager who doesn't care much about the clients money and more about his bonus. Emotions come with smaller investors and tend to be absent from the larger players. That's just the way it is. So these BB's tend to be a place for many small emotional pi's to vent their frustrations and anger at not seeing a return on their hard earned funds. On that basis... not likely to change... ever. One thing is for sure... Scott is going to need to show some leg over the next few weeks as I'm not buying the promises of Q1 2024 updates... that's a classic pre end of the year AGM style game plan and for it to work, he's going to need to update shareholders properly and the deliver any finer details in Q1. Very easy to communciate the bulk of it with the cream ontop to follow just 12 weks later. If Q1 2024 is Scott's PFS date, then he'll more than enough now to bring Shareholders up to speed as there's no way another 12 weeks is going to change very much.

So if you want to be around to make Q1 2024 Scott... you best get a firm update out before AGM and follow it with a finale detailed version 12 weeks later or less.

Copper shortage looms and would not surprise me one bit if copper resources were all gobbled up by non mining entities. Like some have said on here before.... What's $10bln to Tesla? What's $10bln to Chinese... what's $10bln to Saudi's. Whoever bags Alpala will not need to worry about copper shortages. If the BRICS do enter the mining industry with large Tier1 mine pruchases, then it could signal a serious demise in likes of BHP and others. They coud end up being service companies... lots of know how but doing the works for someone else. That said... if BHP et al want to reduce risk for shareholders and reduce rising capex, the partner deals with the Saudi's or UAE would make perfect sense. A copper shortage is coming and if SOLG can get a mine plan devised that produces into that initial spike (eg built and exporting withy next 2 to 3 years) then that's going be very attractive. Hence Scott's new PFS plans.

Well said... from another poster that sold out and is no longer invested. Yes... it's very easy to see both sides of the coin and focus on the downside when you are keen to get back in lower.

Have you noticed that since Sharketmare publically stated he bought back in, the negative comments seem to have disappeared.

There's one thing you can trust on these BB's and that's genuine investors that are invested do not deramp the company they are invested in... simple as that. No problem with holders wanting to have a grumble and we all do but that's very diffferent to the doom and gloom posted by you and Bozi et al.

Your colours firmly pinned to the mast but too cowardly to admit your true position. Another reality on these bb's is tat you'll find disgengenious posters galore.

Bozi, all you've done is spout the negatives, all the positives are played down. You are without a doubt 'uninvested'. About time you came clean and just admitted it rather than hiding behind this apparent realistic view.

You are not invested in SOLG. Simple as that. And it's not about seeing just positives... I'm all for some negatives. But where you are concerned... I'm afraid it's been a sorry tale of a deramper and basher on a daily basis. No one believes you are invested here...and that's the 'reality'.

You're missing the point, what I'm asking is whether anyone knows of a meterorite crashing into a Tier1 asset. I've just got a enquiring mind... you can't just stick your heads in the sand.

Bozi, if I had the negative doom and gloom view that you have of SOLG I wouldn't be invested at all. I'd be invested in a stock that I think has upside. Which begs the question of why you are still 'apparently' invested here?

I don't think the likes of Franco (experienced investors in the world of metals) would be chucking $100m or so down the drain. Same could be said for recent chinese investment. The discussion about abandonment is a non starter and seriously... why even contemplate it? Are you really that oblivious to the world class category that Alpala sits in?

You may as well as a question on what are the chances of Google or Apple going into Admin??

I think the mining industry learns by mistakes pretty fast and it's pretty clear that Rio's mongolian mine issues were a definitive guide for block caving on what not and waht to do. Rio have since rescued that mine development but costs escalated and during the process of funding ... Rio derisked through the IPO (selling part of it) via Turquoise Hill.

It's not a question of being abandoned at all. It's just finding the best reduced risk and most economic way to mine it. And there's a 100 ways to slice this cake dependent on your appetite or budgets. SOLG thought they had pitched it at the sweet spot being $3bln build which to be honest was pretty good as most Tier 1 are $6bln+.

When copper price is doing cartwheels in a few years time and the world has a shortage... I think you'll find Tier1 copper mines being developed with numbers far far weaker than SOLG's currrent PFS.

I think SOLG now realising that they have to 'prove' they can finance it / progress it whether through JV's or not before a super major gets upset and makes an offer. The latter can just wait it all out... they have the luxury of watching from sidelines and then striking when it suits them. SOLG have to bring events forward that forces the ones on the sidelines to act. Doing a deal on a $1bln project build should be easy imho or much easier than $3bln. So the logic seems sound to me on current plans just a shame it's taken them years to arrive at that eureka moment. But as many have said... many of them have had nice fat salaries and bonuses each year so nice gravy chain to stretch out. That train has hit end of the line now and the AGM will confirm that. Get a move on Scott.

DM, if you watch the recent presentation, Scott shows an example pf BHP's plans for Oz Mineral's large deposit. You can see by the plan/drawing how it works. You might find more info via Oz minerals and BHP. But that's essentially the model now by sounds of things. Oh the irony... bob following his BHP buddies lol!

SOLG are not mine builders. We know that. But what if all the parties involved in recent data room chats have said... erm... we are not keen on stumping up $3bln for your shareholders and then another $3bln+ to build it. What do SOLG do? Say... oh well we'll just sit on it for the next 5 years until we've got 10 billion shares in issue.

I for one think the route to forcing a major or majors inot a bidding battle is to set the ball rolling. Eg... get a deal done on a smaller mine plan that can be funded and has lots of interested parties which may or may not be super majors. Once you get into a situation whereby someone has a foot in the door (JV partner) etc... then you'll soon find out who's really interested. Sometimes you have to go witha credible mine plan that suits your means. $3bln capex was a mine plan for a super major not for SOLG. But $1bln capex suddenly becomes something that could involve PE firms or debt finance or Royalty deals etc etc. In that scenario it's possible that a monetisation event unfolds if feathers get ruffled. Anyone that buys SOLG in the next 6 months to 12months will just rip that Q1 PFS up and start over. I say it again... it's all about getting the ball rolling and forcing players hands. A $3bln capex is proving a tough cat and mouse game as all involved SOLG cannot finance it so why not just stand aside and watch them flounder??? And that sums up the last 12months. No one has to make a move yet as no one feels flustered or concerned the asset is slipping away from them apart from a couple minor royalty deals which have partial buy backs built in.

Capex of $1bln would see them making serious cash. Or whoever the partner is.

I don't think Scott or Maxit are intending to go doen a route which sees them get 5p a share lol!

If the sp was 24p today rather than 14p... we'd still be frustrated with lack of news and progress. But it would feel better. Share prices depress investors when they are low. But end of the day... would you be selling at 24p today if you are holding for the end game outcome?

The share price won't rerate until Scott reveals a JV deal or asset sale. I can't see any catalyst apart from a monetisation event that will move the dial now so not sure why some are out with daggers on the company performance. It's a binary investment now that exploration has ceased.

If they were to kick off the latter again, the it might become more enjoyable and less boring. Remember, it was exploration drilling on Porvenir that saw the sp jump from low 20's to early 40's. Nothing to do with ENSA or Alpala although the market conditions were much better back then and less shares in issue but just 85% ENSA and CGP still hanging out in their mud hut.

Something has to give. If the idea is to bore us all into submission of a pony offer as that's all Maxit can conjur up then it looks like it's working. But upcoming AGM will have Scott and a few worried. It's out of their control. And Scott was already on the unwanted list. What's the betting they place 100m shares (3%) pre AGM just to give them some extra support lol!

DBW... do you know (or have we been told) what performance criteria Scott needs to meet to justify those awards. I keep hearing that there was supposed to be somekind of alignment or targets being publicised but I haven't seen anything? Buried in the MD&A somewhere perhaps? If I recall... the options have been granted... end of.

It might have done just about enough to secure his job at next AGM but it certainly hasn't earned those Bonus shares this year that's for sure, so he can give them back. If they think they are going to award more shares next year... then they can properly xxxx off! The days of awarding directors in this company should be over. It's time for them to deliver.
