RE: US Market Manipulation.6 Jul 2023 14:12
Ok guys, good news. It is not a conspiracy to manipulate the external markets (outside US territories).
IT IS POLICY!!!
So let me go back a bit. my holdings within Switzerland are 95% Swiss, the rest are unfortunately the US.
These are my long term holdings for old age (there already I feel) and retirement.
Recently I was sent a letter asking if I wished to remain in two of my funds as they were about to engage and change to 'ESG' funds. Do nothing and they become the new status, or opt out and find another one or two funds.
But I liked the funds, they were doing well. Until the ESG label was dropped in front and then they lost ground, 5% overnight.
As explained I had a brief consult last week and today a 'in person' with my broker. Now my funds are traded with a large Swiss banks that recently had to bail out another Swiss bank, I will not mention them, due to advertising rules, but there are other Swiss banks you could also use.
I asked him why the push to US traded funds and market, he said basically it was an internal policy, brought about with an agreement with the US government, IRS and SEC.
To be able to do business within the US, external companies and banks have to allow the US to have certain controls and must conform to these policies.
Racketeering and extortion come to mind??
Companies find out the hard way when they do not comply, even countries. Not sure about that? Look into FATCA!
Fund managers policy has been to transfer wealth from large accounts (or multiple smaller ones, mine) to US wealth funds. Thus propping up their market.
He said I did not have to do it, I could stay in my current funds but advised that the ROI would decline over the next decade and for him to do his job properly he thinks it is best for me to allocate funds to US ETFs etc.
I pushed about the manipulation, he said it was not done directly by the US, but rather by the fund managers doing it internally because of US pressure. He did not want o get into it further as he said it was actually 'policy' in their T&C's.
There you have it folks. I finally met an upfront honest broker and never felt worse, who knew!!
