I am not sure, but could be they are merely cashing out their options, banking the cash or using to buy stock outright.
But if they are selling up, they sends a poor signal to the markets and as retail investors make up the majority, they don't care what the optics are. Options are only to sweeten the salary pot, vested stock is designed to retain talent, that works on a certain level. Some people could care less what the value of the stock are, if they plan on leaving, they go.
Also, pretty sure that a company stock that is vested has to be sold within a time frame if an employee is leaving the company or they lose them.
