Also with more weapons into Ukraine, along with NATO pushing their agenda, Putin is building back better (jeez) so a massive all out war in the country will happen, no one seems to want it to de-escalate and we have 10's of 1000's of people trapped and dying in a earth quake, yet we can barely muster any aid to those poor people.

Just to put things in perspective, BP Plc, just had a massive £20b+ profit and their sp only rose this week by 12%.
They are almost to their 5yr highs. We have a long way to go, but hopefully up we go.

I am by no means an analyst, heck, I can barely tie my shoe laces some days.
But I also cannot see this sp rising more than 220 +/- this year, let alone by the 25th.
If we are really lucky, 185 on or around the 25th. Then it will be a slow up and down for the rest of the year.
I love the optimism, just check it with a dose of reality. Those previous heady days of mid 400's are many many years away.

mararab, I think that is just the UK, here Lidl, Aldi, Ikea etc all have solar roof panels, Ikea even give you free EV charging, same for Lidl.
Think about the power they can generate, save and even put back into the grid. I see Lidl's have meters that tell you the power generated, consumed and how much is going back into the grid. All those chillers and freezers that consume vast amounts of energy.
But I have also seen some of those people that work in local planning depts of councils. "Not in keeping with the surroundings" is a phrase I have heard often. How will a coal bunker look in the surroundings??

Off topic, but here all barns and farm structures are covered in solar panels. I would do the same, but means ripping off the roof and re-designing it to accommodate the panels. It has crossed my mind a few times.
Agree about the French, also Spain, If you drive through southern France towards and into Spain, all you see are wind turbines, then central Spain is covered with solar farms. And the English, complain about everything and then object to changing the situation. Rant over!

Landuhh, I don't think I said there was anything wrong with sustainable energy, What I don't like is the green-washing.
And BP took a step back, not ceased completely. Looney said he realised that they were trying to get too far too quickly and it could not be done that way, also the ROI was far lower than expected, but will continue to invest in renewables.
I think, personally speaking it makes far more sense to incentivise the private citizen to become self-sufficient, solar panels, better heating systems etc.

It seems the only way to boost the UK economy is to have companies do well and let them know that it is a good thing and praise them, instead of what the media do and berate them for being successful.
A thriving robust economy serves everyone.

The optics may look bad for companies with huge profits, because that's how the media wants to play it.
But during 2020 oil prices went negative, oil companies were not making money, even into 2021. Then BP had to get rid of it's Russian interests valued @ 14-16 billion euros? (cannot remember the exact number tbh) but all the media does is, "oh look, a private company is making money".
I'm glad BP to a step back from 'sustainable ventures' as that was just greenwashing anyway.

Unfortunately Zelensky will be at the centre of attention for years to come, what with all the US corps lining up to 'rebuild' Ukraine and then push for EU membership. Ukraine will be controlled wholly by the US and it's big business with a say in the EU. Another attempt at provocation while Ukrainian civilians die and soldiers on both side go home in bodybags.

The media circus around the balloon is quite fitting really.

Dan, love it, the US spying on China discovers that the Chinese were spying on them... If I was the US government, I would be more worried about all those in the US congress and Pentagon that work for the Chinese. The balloons are just the 'fun party' side of it.

BoE says recession in the UK will be short and less severe.

So perhaps some good news for a while until the next crisis.
