I'll dive straight in and say the pipeline sabotage was all the West's doing, the US or the US's instructions. This was not in the Kremlin's interest. This was a long view goal to ensure the constant supply of LNG to Europe from the US.
A Pollitzer prize winning journalist has documented that and pointed the finger at Norway (cannot remember to be fair) and they have not denied it. This has been reported in many places, just not on CNN, BBC, Sky , you get the drift.
As for the rest, the air is thick with propaganda, so it may have been Ukraine or Russia, if it was Russia it would have been to fire up the public, " see! We are under attack".

Why the preoccupation about a divi?
So you get a 5% divi (say BP) then in one day it drops 9% (lest also say BP) now that 5% divi is not looking so great is it?

I understand that lower oil prices mean transport will pay less for fuel, however, that will not bring inflation down as what consumers pay for everyday goods will not see the benefit of that.
We all know when companies make saving that never reflects in prices to the consumers, unless government mandated.
Sure, the cost of filling up your car may be a little lower, but in the grand scheme of things, not much. Gas had come down, but has Centrica lowered their prices to match that? Nope.
Once people adapt to higher prices, they are seldom reduce and if they are, it is marginal compared to the increase but allows companies to say, "look, we've lowered our prices" All BS!!

I'm watching the US airlines stocks and it is incredible to me that as we approach their summer holiday season the sp are dropping through the floor.
This makes no sense what so ever. I am baffled. The US economy is not slowing based on AMEX and Discover card data, people are still spending.
This bodes badly for Euro airline stocks come the morning.

Lloyd, I did not say keep inflation at 10% annually, what I suggested was that they just zero out this year's inflation, there is no way Hunt can bring inflation down to 2% this year and hiking interest rates will only make people poorer unless they have lots in savings accounts.
Nothing is normal about our current financial crisis, so using the 'normal tools' will just not work as you can plainly see.
