Terrible take as usual and you have no way of proving that.
BP, Vodafone, Harbour, Glencore etc. are all examples of companies who've pursued buyback programmes to boost EPS thus directors' remuneration, and because they've seemingly ran out of other ideas. This sign of weakness is like blood in the water to circling sharks, who then proceed to dismantle the share price...These buyback programmes have consequences beyond the obvious reduction in share capital. And in the cases where the shares haven't been cancelled but kept in treasury, the average price paid is much higher than today's share price.
