Workplace testing - Amazon3 Nov 2020 12:31
Adding for once some factual info to the pot, & for our excellent researchers here.
Have a relative works for Amazon. Just launched in-house workplace testing for employees, using a dedicated lab in the UK they are funding. Sent me this. Have no confirmation it's NCYT, but looks highly likely.
We are very confident in the accuracy of the test results as our lab technicians use a credible method for detecting antigens called RT-PCR. In fact, this method has been found to have a 100% sensitivity and 99% specificity return rate. While it is possible that negative results may occur when there are very low levels of the virus in the sample, we understand this to be a small margin based on the circumstances of when the test is taken.
Testing for the coronavirus usually involves collecting a ‘swab’ sample from the nose, mouth, and/or throat, and there are different ways of doing this. We’re building our testing lab based on input and proven effectiveness from world-class technology, healthcare and clinical experts. The tests we are using are FDA approved and CE marked [if asked – this means they meet safety and health requirements and comply with EU legislation]. Our approach has been also validated using samples provided by Public Health England. This validation offers us confidence in the reliability of our results.
UK has 27k employees & the aim is all to be tested every 14 days. WW has 560k. Expands rapidly if agency workers & sub-contractors are added to the target.
