MPMR and Timor-Leste’s National Petroleum Authority (ANP) are participating in this year’s SIEW.

Tomorrow, the President of ANP, Mr Gualdino da Silva, will take part in a panel discussion titled “The Role of LNG & Natural Resources in a Decarbonising World” at the Asia Gas Markets Conference. The discussion is scheduled to take place from 03:25 to 04:05 pm.

Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Timor-Leste's Interlocutor have discussed the stages for the Greater Sunrise project on Monday, October 21, 2024, in a video conference meeting with the Australian Special Representative for the Greater Sunrise project, Steve Bracks.

The meeting aimed to discuss the current situation, share information and ideas for the joint work between Timor-Leste and Australia for the development of the Greater Sunrise project. The next stages were also discussed, with the objective of maximizing the benefits of the project for both countries. During the video conference Minister Agio Pereira share his recent observations petroleum and gas sector and economic diversification during his visit to Brunei Darussalam with Steve Bracks. expressed a commitment to maintaining close collaboration with Timor-Leste in the development of the Greater Sunrise project, and the conceptual study of the project, which began in April 2024, led by Australian Wood Company. The objective of the study is to identify the best options for the development, processing, and commercialization of gas from the Greater Sunrise Field.

Need to see a flood of buying coming in to keep this going. A strong finish above 0.1p would be fantastic. What is delaying this funding update? Cannot believe we’re still waiting. I’m sure AB is aware of the frustration and anxiety out there. I wonder how many investors have actually passed away waiting? The project needs to be nailed down financially and we need to know.

One thing we can say for sure. The winning bid for the Sulu blocks will not be announced until Q1 2025.

Two companies participated in the bidding for oil and gas exploration in Liguasan marsh and Sulu sea.

In an interview with Engr. Nasiri Abas, the Director General of Energy Management and Development Services of MENRE-BARMM will go through the evaluation of the companies if they have the competence. We will know next year if they can continue the exploration

Agree. Would definitely bolster Sunda in value and profile. A bit of concern surrounding the recent departure of Sulu province from the BARMM regional governance but the state continues to control the sea areas. I did ask Sunda about this but they didn’t reply or didn’t know. Of course we haven’t won anything yet. Beyond me why AB is so reluctant to talk openly about the bid when the information is out there and other companies can do so.

There’s loads of information on the two particular basins available on line. I hope the rumour is true. It sounds reasonable. Triangle Energy, part of the bidding consortium recently give a presentation where their CEO said he expected the result end of Q4, early 2025. So, who knows.

Very similar to Chuditch. Proven gas reserves, not commercalised. Although deep water. Might take a long time to actually drill. With the biggest state explorer on board, PXP, would expect them to win this.

At the Sulu Sea basin, data from the DOE had shown that drilling in the area had already surpassed 40 wells; and despite anticipated massive potential for oil and gas reserves, further investments are still needed to bring prospects to commercial fruition.

The last big-ticket investor which wagered $400 million capital outlay for petroleum exploration at a block in Sulu Sea basin had been American energy giant Exxon, although the final outcome of its venture had not been enough to merit commercial scale development.
