HOUSTON, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Norwegian headquartered Crown LNG is racing against time to develop and start construction of a liquefied natural gas export plant in the U.S. before President-elect Donald Trump's second term ends in 2029, its CEO Swapan Kataria said.

Crown LNG is hoping to build a 9 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) LNG facility offshore Texas from which it hopes to then export the gas to its proposed regasification terminals in India, Vietnam and Scotland, all of which are still in various stages of development.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, together with the supervisory institutions ANP, IP, Timor Gap, EP, ANM, IP, MRT, EP, and IGTL, IP, conducted a reflection to evaluate the achievements and challenges encountered during the year 2024 and project the

implementation of strategic programs for 2025. In the reflection held at Delta Nova Dili, His Excellency Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Francisco da Costa Monteiro, praised the rigorous work of the division within the ministry and the supervisorv institutions. which contributed to the success of the government's principal program, the Greater Sunrise project, and other strategic programs in the oil and mineral sectors for 2024.

Regarding the concept study conducted by Wood Australia, His Excellency Minister highlighted the positive result of the study in terms of technical and commercial feasibility to ensure data on the Greater Sunrise resources flowing to Timor-Leste. This has also been confirmed by the Timor-Leste government, Australia, and the Joint Venture Company.

Remarkable progress made in 2024 includes continuous exploration of oil and gas in onshore and offshore area which is under responsibility of the regulatory authority, ANP, IP and TIMOR GAP, EP. Also, the prospecting of metallic minerals and rare earths implemented by ANM, IP, and MRT, EP. Additionally, geological research, including the discovery of fossilized ichthyosaur bones in the Bobonaro Municipality and promotion to attract investors in the oil and mineral sector, which can impact Timor-Leste's economy.

MPRM continues to invest in human resource development to enhance technical skills and support institutional development towards realizing the strategic program.

Madam Milena Rangel, Vice Minister for ASEAN Affairs will welcome and receive her counterpart, H.E. Mr. Sun Weidong, Vice Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, for a working visit to Timor-Leste from 16-17 December 2024.

During this visit, Vice Minister Weidong will have Courtesy Calls with H.E. Fernanda Lay, President of the National Parliament and H.E. Kayrala Xanana Gusmão, Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

Taking further the importance of the visit for the bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, Timor-Leste will host the second Diplomatic Consultation between Timor-Leste and China, which will be co-chaired by Madam Vice Minister Rangel and H.E. Vice Minister Weidong, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, on 16th December 2024.

SUNDAGAS SIGN MOU WITH TIMOR GAP AND MINISTER MONTEIRO TO DEVELOP THE CHUDITCH GAS FIELD

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today under the Production Sharing Contract TL-SO-19-16 to advance the development of the Chuditch gas field.The agreement was signed by Andy Butler, CEO of SundaGas Banda Unipessoal Lda.; Rui Soares, President and CEO of TIMOR GAP, E.P.; and His Excellency Francisco da Costa Monteiro, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

The MoU formalizes collaboration between. TIMOR GAP and SundaGas to plan and accelerate the development of the Chuditch gas field. It establishes a mutual understanding to work collaboratively toward monetizing the Chuditch gas in the near future. This will involve evacuating gas through a pipeline and an LNG plant in Natarbora, Timor-Leste. The project also considers the potential utilization of Bayu-Undan facilities to process the gas, which could extend the lifeline of the Bayu-Undan Project. SundaGas holds a 60% stake in the project, in partnership with TIMOR GAP's subsidiary, TIMOR GAP Chuditch Unipessoal Lda.
