Last month, the ANP carried out a two-day field visit and held a coordination meeting in Suai from December 26-27, 2024.
On December 26, a meeting took place at Suai Airport with the ANATL team, which included Mr. Almerio de Seia, Mr. Sergio de Jesus da Costa, and representatives from Aeroporto Internacional Comandante em Chefe das Falintil Kay-Rala Xanana Gusmão (AICCFKRXG), including Mr. João Amaral and his team, along with Mr. Candido Ribelo, MPRM Covalima Director. The main agenda was to prepare Suai Airport for the upcoming Bayu-Undan activities and explore potential collaborations for joint venture helicopter operations between TIMOR GAP and Weststar Aviation, scheduled to begin on February 1, 2025, with preparatory activities planned throughout January.
On the same day, the ANP team had the privilege of meeting with the President of the Municipality Authority, Mr. Miguel Armada Cardoso, to discuss the operational readiness of Suai Airport for Bayu-Undan activities. This conversation involved coordination with ANATL, TIMOR GAP, and other stakeholders regarding infrastructure enhancements and logistics, addressing issues such as the relocation of the Holbelis community, the need for improved electricity supply and waste management, and ensuring Suai Airport complies with operational flight standards.
Following that, on December 27, the ANP team conducted a coordination meeting with Mr. Nuno Nogueira, the Director of Salele border, Mota-Masin along with the team. The meeting highlighted the significance of customs coordination for the import of goods and fuel, in anticipation of increased activities beginning in April 2025
