Let's hope that small caps take the market lead in 2025. We need a big rotation out of US Tech stocks into unloved value such as UK small caps. If only Boo could deliver on revenue growth as well!

If Boo is going to have a 1Q Capital Markets Day in March, then I would imagine it gave a trading update in the announcement.

The last trading update in January 2024 was very basic saying that trading was in line with expectations.

Unless trading is not in-line with expectations!

Dan says he has already implemented plan (source: Cooler). Presumably, this means marketplace is already been rolled out at Boo. He would want the ability to give us an insight into current trading during Capital Markets Day.

Is the Debenhams Pay Plus old news? Or is this a new in-house finance arm?

Agreed. When I have had problems with eBay or Amazon from third party sellers, they step in and refund. A bit like Amex.

I was reading reviews on that pretend luxury watch brand which was founded by some Jewish guy in New York. It was selling on Debs. It is called Sturhling.

Several customers said it broke and contacted Debs. Debs referred them to manufacturer. The consumer were fobbed off and had no consumer protection as they purchased watch from US.

Bfd, Dan said in the YouTube video that the plan was to turn Boo into a fashion-led marketplace.

I presume this means courting the same manufacturers as SHEIN in an asset-light model. Manufacturer is direct to consumer using Boo brand.

This is my understanding of the direction Dan is taking Boo.

This capital markets day has two elements

1) Dan to explain his marketplace strategy but agree that Debs / marketplace are a better fit.

The issue with using Boo as a marketplace is they will lose control of quality.

2) Kamani to have brokered a deal which releases value.

If the Capital Markets Day is only (1), then agree that this company is floundering. Sell-side will not upgrade until reported numbers improve.

I hope Kamani is working on a deal to release value and get this share price moving.

Dan didn’t mention PLT in the YouTube video on rolling out marketplace. It is hard to see how the Arcadia labels fit in this going forward. I wouldn’t be surprised if they say they are looking to dispose of Labels in the future at the right price.

SCB - I hope the BoD understand the level of frustration from shareholders.

Ok Dan seems to be reasonably competent and needs time. However, this alone is not enough. Yes under normal circumstance a CEO reset would result in a reprieve and honeymoon period. The BoD said there was a business review, a credible plan. I find it odd that Dan talks about the successful equity raising which was oversubscribed!

The Capital Markets Day is when they reveal the credible plan. I hope it is more than "we are rolling out marketplace to Boo and KM". If that is it, then I can only pray that the actual reported numbers are better than the woefully weak guidance.

The only merit of marketplace is that the same cheap sellers on Shein marketplace will also be on Boohoo.

As a strategy to take on Shein, that is probably the most effective.

The stock market is ruthless to those who have strategy presentations with lots of buzzwords (react, faster, connecting to consumer, AI, marketplace).

I now feel the capital markets day will be built upon a buzzword presentation. This will not be enough to get sell-side analysts to upgrade their recommendation. The shorts will smell weakness. We were led to believe the credible plan was something more.

Dan will need to demonstrate with sales growth figures (i.e., beat expectations) that his shift to marketplace will be enough to get the share price moving in right direction.

The credible plan is:

1) to turn Boohoo into a fashion-led marketplace; and

2) to turn Karen Millen into a premium lifestyle-led marketplace.

Hmmmmm.

Maybe Boo is copying SHEIN? The Chinese suppliers are shipping directly to customer? Could explain why they abandoned US DC.

Dan says the credible plan is already being implemented?

I’m confused by what this could mean. Mgmt indicated last September-November that it was looking to release value. It also said it paid down debt to give it strategic flexibility for the business review. This would imply it needed to pay off creditors as it was going to do something fundamental to the structure of the business.

I hope the credible plan is not simply turning Boo into a marketplace for third party brands. A fulfilment service on narrow margins.

SCB - I am still hoping that this Business Review is signficant and the reason we have not heard anything.

When it raised new equity in November it said:

"The proceeds of the Fundraise are intended to be used: provide additional strategic flexibility to maximise value for all shareholders as part of the Group's Business Review."

This suggests that it already had an idea of the credible plan and it needed to pay down debt in order to action it.

I appreciate many have lost faith in mgmt (me too). However, maybe something major is happening?

I read a post on LinkedIn that SHEIN instructed JLL and Savilles last Summer with the motive being to help it gain more credibility for a UK listing. Although some landlords may have ESG concerns (such as Crown Estates or a pension fund), if SHEIN wanted a DC it could get one no problem. It seems they also stopped looking last Summer.

It doesn’t really need a warehouse. It seems the US postal service cannot implement the import duty. I wouldn’t be surprised if SHEIN opens a warehouse in US and EU to appease legislators and pay taxes. SHEIN will have to adapt business model.

Maybe plan B is to buy Boo instead!

I actually think we will get some semblance of a credible plan in 1Q.

Management and the BoD have lost a lot of credibility. There are two scenarios:

1) Deliver good earnings; or

2) follow through and deliver a credible plan to release value in the 1Q Capital Markets Day.

I am not confident on the first. Therefore, I expect the second. No doubt Mike Ashley will become vocal again at some point in next 6 weeks.

I guess we have to sit hit on our losses in the interim.

If M&S Richard Price is as good as the articles suggest (I have no idea), then he must have left for a bigger job. Maybe he has hit a senior position at Shien?

I suspect that Price already knew Lyttle through industry and he probably even recommended him for role. Who knows.

I just want to exit Boohoo north of 50p. I hope Shien looks to take Boo out as a plug and play UK infrastructure as part of its IPO.
