Best wishes that your treatment goes well . Keep positive and stay focused .I look forward to reading a post that says you've been given the all clear.
I'm also of the opinion that this will go the jv route if the license application is successful. Last week's link to an article on fintech in Myanmar which Lt posted provided further information to back this view It stated - although the mobile financial services regulation's do not expressly restrict foreign companies from receiving a license, as a matter of practice at the current time foreign companies ( other than a mobile network operator or in a jv with a mbo ) may have difficulty in receiving Central Bank approval ,and often the Central Bank does not even accept application's from non mobile network foreign companies -although there is some expectancy that this could change in the future. My take is I can't see a company going for a full takeover if there is a chance that the Central Bank might revoke the license
Regarding the license the two jobs that were posted on Facebook on 5/10/18 (business unit manager and senior accountant) give a job description that they will be working on a product to be launched in the coming months. The manager will be in charge of what looks like a new department called MYAN MYAN DIGITAL and part of the accountants job cover's remittances .The very fact that they are now looking to fill these positions is a good indication that good vibes must be coming from the Central Bank .
Moving on to the Tencent deal a lot of foreign companies advertise directly on WeChat which is very expensive because of the audience potential. They way the Mysq deal has been done we provide a platform for advertisers and hopefully the charges which Mysq get to keep will be at a local competitive rate . Stephen Chong also stated last week that Mysq are going to provide a link to WeChat for Myanmar exporter's .Last year's export's across the border to China came in at around $5.4billion , so there must be potential in this area .I also wondered if Mysq might be getting some help setting this up , I'm sure Tencent have plenty of connection's to the chinese business community in Myanmar.
The article yesterday on Tencent certainly was an eye opener .Formed in 1998 , first profit of $1.2million on a turnover of $5.9million in2001 and the rest is history .
