I've just come across this news article from five week's ago when the Cambridge lab Novacyt are working with was first announced. The first section is about the antigen testing and it then goes on to say the team at Cambridge are also working on an antibody test which they hope to have ready for early May.

Ghia, just to point out according to the report in the Belfast Telegraph the 50,000 tests were flown to the USA because of mechanical failure at the lab belonging to Randox .

We already know what the trading for the last financial year was like from the statement released in January. However it will be interesting to see if all the publicity of the last four month's has had a knock on effect for the rest of the Novacyt group. Currently they are looking to recruit a European sales manager and national account manager for the Microgen and Lab 21 Healthcare side of the business , which suggests increased trading for those part's of the group.

Earlier last year Microgen launched the new Pathflow rapid test's ( 15 mins) for several of the more common viruses. At a later date they did say sales of these were increasing , so hopefully they've continued that trend.

According to the health secretary the new lab at Cambridge is due to come on line this coming Monday .When detail's of this lab were first announced on the 08/04/20 GSK and AZN were tasked with setting up the lab and Novacyt were to supply the test kit's. They were also to explore the use of alternative chemical reagents for test kit's in order to overcome current supply shortages . Since then Novacyt have announced they are working on the EXSIG FREE test ( direct extraction method ) that will use different reagents and save a significant amount of time per test . With the lab about to come online the launch of this new test must be very close. It's also worth noting that they were originally targeting a daily throughput of 30,000 test's with this lab. From the wording of the rns only Novacyt are mentioned with supplying this lab and this is additional to the contract that they were awarded with the DHSC .

From what was said by the Astrazeneca CEO this morning the new super lab at Cambridge is due to come online this next week. During the interview he also stated that Primer Design are supplying the test kit's. I would expect a contract to supply this lab to be announced fairly soon to supercede what was in the original rns from 08/04/20 .

When the contract with Yourgene was announced on 25/03/20 it stated they would initially manufacture critical components of the Covid-19 test. The statement then went on to add that the two companies may seek to expand the agreement to include final version's of the Covid-19 test in due course. At the time I did question what were the final version's. Last week we learnt that Novacyt expect to launch the direct extraction test in May . Is this what they were alluding to in that original rns and if so it would appear that out of the four new manufacturing partnership's only Yourgene have been linked to manufacturing these final version's.

Looking at the direct PCR extraction method it can cut test times significantly to around 45 minutes , effectively doubling the testing throughput.

It gives a full list who qualifies as a key worker for testing and also states that a home swab test is being developed. These swab's will then go by courier to the large testing center's such as where Novacyt are involved at Cambridge.

Just took another look at US Bio who are selling Primer Design Covid-19 test kits .Since I looked on Friday they have put a notice at the top of their web page stating the kit's are now back ordered till June 2020.Gives you an idea how strong sales are .

Towards the end the report states that even after the symptoms of Covid-19 have cleared the virus can remain and replicate as a mild infection in you upper respiratory tract .This means that you could have been given the all clear with an antibody test but still be able to spread the virus on to others. The only way to safely continue is repeated testing with the antigen test until you provide a negative result.

Just took a look on the government's web site and as of the 28/03/20 there was only eight designated Nhs laboratories in England with the capabilities of processing the antigen test's .No wonder they've been struggling to increase the number of test's.

Bruker have already initiated distribution of the Primer Design Covid-19 test into Spain, Germany ,France and the Uk

From yesterday's rns's we were told that Bruker had already initiated shipment's of the Primer Design test into Spain ,France and the UK.
From the second rns we learnt that Yourgene will be helping to produce component's for the covid 19 test. Novacyt then added that the two companies may seek to expand the agreement to include production of final versions of the Covid-19 test in due course.
What is the final version of the Covid-19 test ?

It seems that all premium post's are showing the correct closing price. Whether this is a technical fault we'll never know.
