ShaunP, the supply of the Cambridge lab is totally separate to the DHSC contract as per the statement in the rns 08/04/20. The high throughput test's were developed later for that lab and maybe others .Charles Rivers actually run the lab now , but Astra Zeneca still have overall control .The contract that has just been published on Bidstats was originally awarded on 27/04/20 for the complete running of the lab .

The £63 million for supply of covid19 tests to the DHSC seems to be an extension of the 6 month's contract that runs to November 4th. At the time of the first contract a figure of around £8.50 a test brought the total to a similar amount .GM did say the other week that there had been extension's to some contract's.

From the recent update we learnt that Novacyt will be aiming to move into respiratory and transplant disease testing .After looking into transplant surgery it would appear that sepsis is one of the biggest dangers after an operation .Novacyt already have experience in this field as they have been developing sepsis test assay's for Immunexpress for several year's , having signed a new contract in April 2019 .

Currently Immunexpress are about to launch their Septicyte Rapid test in Europe and are waiting for FDA approval in the USA . This test gives results in 60 minutes on the Biocartis PCR Idylla platform as opposed to 24 to 48 hour's for the normal test and is the first of its kind .

I see Novacyts new antibody test made the John Hopkins Center list of serological covid19 products the .same day it was released. Someone's on the the ball , let's hope they've applied to the FDA for emergency use authorisation. Long list , Novacyt are at the end of the section titled new tests in other countries . A comprehensive list overall, which gives you a good idea what the other companies are marketing.

Allah4uk , the other week Novacyt advertised for a supervisor to work in the QMUL labs till the year end . In the supervisors job description it stated this person will be responsible for helping the labs to test and prove new products and workflow solutions from Novacyt. This I took to mean at the very least the simplified version of the covid19 test to be used on the q16 and q32 devices. The outcome of what's going on in these labs could lead to many sales opportunities and not just in the NHS.

It looks like the second phase of the contract could well be linked to the work that is taking place in the labs at QMUL on simplifying the covid19 test procedure. A positive outcome there would make it possible to roll out the NPT in a wider range of NHS settings, some without previous testing experience.

Novacyt are currently working on a simplified version of their covid19 test to be used with the q16 and q32 PCR devices .Testing time at the moment is stated at just inside the hour on these. How much quicker will this this new test be ? Finally could the name of this new version begin with P ?

In June 2019 the AGM had to be adjourned and rescheduled for a month later because the number of shareholders voting failed to reach the minimum number required under French law . With all that's taking place with the company at the moment the last thing they want is a repeat of this .
