TimV ,in the details of the award that were released last Friday it states -Upon signing of the order form ,all reagents kit's will be available to the NHS . The supply of further optional qPCR instruments will follow upon the placing of a further order by the Authority .The Authority may place that order up to eight week's after the date of this agreement, failing which the Supplier may release it's stock to other countries.

For a 2 month extension of the contract written confirmation would have to be received by December 28th. Let's see what this week brings first.

Two week's ago the NHS started a trial where 250,000 of their staff would test themselves every 4 day's before coming to work using the Innova lft . Last week this was further expanded to more trust's with all positives being retested by qPCR. If you use this link there is more information especially in the first two pdf's . There's also mention of lamp test's which they are still waiting for in the lab's , these I think are the Lampore test's.

Going of this newspaper item there was 6% of NHS staff off work sick at the beginning of the month .Which way this figure goes with the lft remains to be seen.

ShaunP, you were asking the question who supplies the original lighthouse labs. I was fairly sure it started out as Thermofisher and the recent contract award suggests they are still heavily involved. I managed to find this newspaper item from earlier this year, when they were given a contract to supply 100,000 test's a day on the understanding that they had to be manufactured in the uk.

That's seven months old news regarding the Samba2. One device can only process 4 test's in 90/100 minutes. Nowhere near the speed and capacity of the q32 ,which has been further enhanced by Novacyts launch of PROmate this week.

Looking at this news report Cambridge University has been running weekly pooled testing for their 15,000 students , using the Anne McLaren lab where Novacyt supply the test's. With pooling testing they only have to run 2,000 test's each time as 7/8 samples go into each test .If a pooled test comes back positive those 7/8 people in that particular test complete individual retest's to pinpoint who has actually got the virus . I know the USA has been used pooled testing for a while now with a limit of 4 samples per test. This is the first time I've seen an actual report on it being used in the UK.

Yesterdays rns announced the launch of PROmate the new covid19 test .Can this new product be used on these systems, it's name suggests a connection. If so that's a good existing base of customer's to target with sales of PROmate.
In the previous r+d rns it stated that the new covid19 test ( PROmate) would significantly reduce the time for running the test process .We know that the q32 used to take 60 minutes , has anyone got an idea what the new time might be?

From today's rns we learnt that Novacyts near patient test is being trialled in more clinical settings .Just over two weeks ago professor Jo Martin tweeted that she had been working on the mobile testing pilot ,which is the care homes trial that she is in charge of .In the same tweet there was also mention of working on rapid testing at a dental hospital. This dental hospital appears to be the Royal London , which is just down the road from the QMUL where the care homes trial is based from . Looking on their website anybody who requires invasive dental treatment is required have a rapid covid19 test with the results back in 60 minutes .If a sample comes back positive it is then retested with the standard PCR set up .I can't prove for sure that this is Novacyts test, but the test time is the same as a q32 and the procedure for double checking a sample is the same as what they were doing at QMUL.

I did a check on the website for new trademarks application's yesterday The status of the P*****E application still remained at the examination stage , however as of 30/10/20 the status of V******B had changed to application published. This means that the application has been excepted and this has been published in the Intellectual Property Office Trade Marks Journal .If there is no opposition's to this in the next 60 day's it then goes to the final registration. I checked the journal to make sure last night , can't get on the site today as it's down for maintenance.

ShaunP, we know from the rns late spring that Biofortuna were helping Novacyt with production of the original covid19 test . Several week's after this was announced another notice appeared on their website stating that they were now producing the mastermix part of a UK company's gold standard covid19 test. This was to enable the unknown company to reach a production capacity of over 10 million test's ( all subject to an NDA ). No way of proving who this is , but it does seem to point in a certain direction.
