Pebble101, last Friday I took my mother for a vaccination at her gp practice. While we were waiting I spoke to one of the doctor's who told me they were using the Phizer vaccine .They were thawing the neat vaccine out and getting enough for six vaccination's instead of five from each vial. He told me they had originally aimed to compete 900 vaccination's during the first three day's , but with the extra vaccine they would be able to process over a 1,000 instead. They were making use of all the vaccine unlike some of the report's from around the UK. Apparently they are using the Astra Zeneca vaccine more in the care homes at the moment because handling is easier with the temperatures it is stored at (could also be because there is less chance of a reaction with the az). The staff were very efficient ,but the main problem I found was the small waiting room afterwards. You had to spend 15 minutes in there in case you had a reaction. Most of the elderly in there had a relative or carer with them which effectively nearly doubled the numbers .This was probably the most exposure a lot of these elderly have had in the last 11 month's.

At Christmas an advance notice was placed on Bidstats by the DHSC that they are looking to set up a dynamic purchasing system for all things needed for covid19 testing in laboratories . They also added that full details would be released around the 17/01/21, and they hoped to instigate the process in January. The most recent Novacyt contract notice mentions 28/01/21 as the end date, could this be to tie in with the new purchasing system. Any thoughts on the above ,I could be totally off track.

B2HS2L, i've been trying to join up a few dot's. If you look on the Optigene website Amplex are down as one of their distributor's. Using this link you can see that the main testing device Easyplex sell is the Optigene Genie ll with the name Amplex on the front as well .It appears they are well connected with Optigene ,I wonder what their global reach is ? Lot's going on behind the scenes with these three companies , Patience is the key word.

Porky9, they are different trademark's Novacyt- VariPLEX. and the other is variplexTM
If you look in the trademark journal you'll find more than one PROmate.The difference being what case the letters are in.

That looks very much like Novacyts new lamp assay . Trademark application registered on Monday and we know who was reviewing new test's on tuesday this week.

Wilson63, I just a look at the link to the Jo Martin tweet that was posted last night .Seems that she has been reviewing new tests and setting up studies of new test's . Two previous tweets like that last year were both followed by good news for Novacyt.

Kaeren, I think could possibly be saliva collection tubes with funnels to help your aim. I did see a clip from one of the trial's last year that used a similar set up.

B2HSL, when the Exig Direct was launched the details found at the time stated that it reduced RNA extraction time from 40 minutes to five minutes for a sample if my memory is still working.

I did read a couple of tweets dated 24/12/20 from a pathologist working with the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trust's . I don't want to put their details on here .
1/. Pathology teams implemented new kit ,new ways of working and new assays taking use from a tiny number to performing thousand's of Covid PCR test's for patient's on a daily basis . Thanks to xxxxx and the supply team for all the support.

2/. Loads more local and regional innovations to benefit patients, clinicians and the lab's implemented and more still in planning for next year. Bring on 2021.

Just to point out the running time of the q32 is just under an hour .However you've got to consider the time taken extracting the RNA from 30 Covid samples beforehand and then placing these in the reaction tubes along with the freeze dried reagents for the test's .
The first week of this year the NHS labs (Pillar 1) averaged 80,000 test's a day and they had completed 15,527,825 test's from the start of the pandemic . Pillar 2 which includes the lighthouse labs has a total number of 36,936,747 test's completed.

I checked the other week regarding the 60 day closed period before annual results . From what I found out it was changed to 30 day's in 2016 to bring the UK inline with the EU.

I posted yesterday about BlackRock holdings . At the time they had nine different holdings under their own name and four under iShares totalling 3.8% .From figures released today there appear to be four more holdings under the BlackRock name ,giving a total holding of 4.36% , if i'm correct. They certainly seem to be confident . From what I can find the holdings should be added together for notification under FCA rul rules . If you use this link and scroll down to (Aggregation of holdings in the case of a group ) there is some info relating to different holdings by the same company and disclosure.

Across the two pages BlackRock have nine different holdings under their own name and four under iShares .This gives them a total holding of 3.8% , which is up from the 3.54% they disclosed in the TR1 four week's ago.
