Full detail's on the amendments that the UK gov made to the guidance on mergers can be found in this link.Previously a company had to have a UK turnover of £70 million before the gov would get involved .This figure has been brought right down to just £1 million.

Kaeren, I took a look at that Bidstats notice relating to the collection of samples for lamp testing. From what I can find out they will be collecting saliva samples to support mass testing of asymptomatic people throughout Hampshire and the Isle of White. This has been set up after the success of last autumn's pilot trial's using the Optigene lamp test. To this day we do not know if Novacyt are helping with the production of their test's ,more research needed.

Gazman, I was looking at the Youseq website last night . Their CEO Jim Wicks was one of the founder's of Primer Design back in 2005. They do have 2 gene and 3 gene covid19 test's on the market ,but their main focus is next generation sequencing .However they have another Covid related product which is very interesting.

Just to add to what NFR said earlier this evening about notification of contract's. When a company wins a government contract through a normal tender process there is what is known as a standstill period for 10 day's ,during which companies who have been unsuccessful in the tender process can make an appeal against the award . If there are no appeals during this 10 day period the award has to be published within the next 20 day's.
However if a contract is awarded directly without going through the tender process ( under emergency measures) there is no 10 day standstill period and the contract has to be announced within 20 day's. Both of Novacyts large contract's have been direct awards.

B2HS2L, thanks for the reply .It was the use of the word Interim in the job title which made me raise the question. We'll have to wait and see on that one .

One thing about about job advert's is they can be a good source of information regarding a companies intentions going forward. Looks like CDX and MDX assays are going to play a big part of this. Which Pharma's are they looking to work with ?

Gazman, just to add quite a lot of people receiving their second jabs at the moment will probably be care home resident's , which means diverting vaccinating staff away from surgery's and clinic's . I don't know how they will manage shortly when there's 400,000 plus eligible for a second dose each day ,whilst trying to give a meaningful amount of people their first dose . Overall I think there are 53 million eligible for the vaccine according to gov number's ,which leaves up to 30 million (depending on take) still to receive their first dose . The fact that the vaccines approved so far are all double dose really does create a logistical problem for the vaccination program.

Interesting final two paragraphs in this article from AZ website. They mention the need for a global standardisation of test's to measure the level's of antibodies produced by the vaccines.

Then we've learnt that a diagnostics expert from the Immune -Oncology Precision Medicine department at Astra Zeneca has been recruited by Novacyt to take up the role of Clinical Performance Director early in February. This I take as being the job that was advertised to oversee the secretive clinical trial work which Novacyt are involved with at the Blizzard Institute. PS-We never did find out who Novacyts partner was in the lab covid19 antibody test they developed last year.

ShaunP, take a look at the restarting travel page on their website .They now offer a rapid PCR test that doesn't need RNA extraction and is used by the NHS as a point of care test .
