Last weekend we learnt that Novacyt had brought out a 3 gene covid19 test. As the number of covid19 variant's has increased laboratories have been switching to this type of test to identify the presence of variant's in a positive sample. One of the genes that the test targets is the S gene where the variant's are being found .If a variant is present when one these test's is run you get a positive result from two genes and dropout on the S gene.This enables the laboratories to identify which positive result's need retesting by the likes of VARIflex to prove the strain of variant strain present .

WBAFC, i wouldn't be surprised if Vatel are selling some or all the shares that were locked in till 31/03/21 (1,038,438 shares ) .Essentially they are on a free ride with these and might have decided to sell . If this is the case World Quant could well have decided to run their latest short on approximately 500,000 shares in parallel with this. I could be wide of the mark ,any thoughts?

I see World Quant declared a new short of 0.61% ( 430,820 shares) on 12/04/21 . Who reappeared on this board that day and got into a right panic this weekend when news of the new test and position's on the National Microbiology Framework were posted .

Just to point out Morningstar currently shows major funds holding 4.51% and major institutions holding 4.26% ,a total of 8.77% (6,189,905 shares). This figure is up by around 180,000 shares since the beginning of the year despite BR selling 515,000 from their original holding of 2.5 million.

The companies which have been successful in the tender are notified by the Authority . There is then a 10 day standstill period during which unsuccessful businesses can appeal ,after that the contract is signed within the next 20 day's and published. This would have all taken place before April 9th.

Position's on this National Microbiology Framework where awarded on April 9th , 30 day's after all those new jobs started to be advertised at Novacyt . There are 112 companies which have been awarded a place on this framework.

It's worth looking on this section of the Astra Zeneca website regarding partnership's, especially precision medicine. Astra Zeneca don't have a diagnostics side to the business and instead they enter into partnership's with established diagnostic companies to provide that expertise.

ShaunP, just to add to your post the contract states that Novacyt will supply a minimum amount of Exsig Direct Covid kit's and Winterplex kit's for the first fourteen week's .If the Authority wished to increase this amount 1 month's notice had to be given . There is no mention of the authority being able to reduce these minimum level's during the first fourteen week's.We can't ascertain what these level's were set at as that part of the contract notice is blanked out.We 've all concentrated on the fact that PROmate was developed to replace the Exsig Direct Covid test to simplify Covid testing in NPT settings with no mention of Winterplex . This test was also part of the NPT package and from what I can see it requires similar operator skills to those needed for using the Exsig Direct Covid test .As a result there could also be a large number of Winterplex and Exsig Direct Covid test's that didn't get used during that 14 week period. It's also worth noting that Winterplex was developed to to distinguish between covid19 and influenza .This winter saw minimal influenza in the general population ,so this could also have decreased the use of Winterplex.

Wilson63, if the product is successful there will be a big demand . At the moment the quantitative covid19 antibody test's that have been brought out by different companies all seem to be lab based assays. Novacyt have already outsourced production of part's of their covid19 test's during the last year and would probably have to do the same again if the demand for the new test is high .This all adds up an increasing load on the logistics side and might be the point where an experienced operator is brought in to run this part of the operation.

Missed out -(nearly) all these job's

28 day's since the new recruitment drive started and all these job's appear to be full time , not temporary. The only ones that are temporary relate to warehouse job's. We discussed the 3 month position for an interim Warehouse and Logistics Manager , wondering if this was going to be outsourced .The ending of this time period seems to coincide with when Novacyt are aiming to launch their next generation LFT covid19 antibody test .Has anyone got any further thought's on this?
