Over the last week there has been over 170,000 new covid19 cases reported in the UK. All these positive samples are now supposed to be retested with a genotype test panel to identify if one of the four main variant's of concern is present.We know that Novacyt are one of four suppliers of these test's ( SNPsig Escape Plex ). The big question is what percentage of this work are Novacyt getting and what price does the test work out at? Could it be comparable to the Winterplex price?

SWORD20, in your 11 o'clock post you mention 2 gene test's that have been supplied to the NHS earlier this year . I take it you mean the 2 gene version of PROmate that was due to be launched in May. So far we have heard nothing more about the development of this test . The one gene PROmate test only received validation and approval by TVG for roll out in the NHS at the end of January this year. Novacyt mentioned the other day that they are working on a test in relation to the if127 biomarker in covid19 patient's. This link gives info on a recent discovery that was made relating to this biomarker and covid19. What they have found is this biomarker gives a clear indication of the levels of covid19 present in a patient. Such a test test would enable hospital's ascertain whether a patient was going to need ventilation or if their infection was going to be less severe.

According to this article people with the delta variant infection have a higher viral load than those infected by previous variant's,thus expelling more of the virus when they cough and sneeze. No wonder it has spread so quickly in schools considering the rules on face mask's were relaxed in May

It looks like news from the US was already causing a rethink regarding the use of the Innova test in early May. Instructions were released asking schools and colleges to start switching to the new test manufactured by Gene Orient Biotech once their stock's of Innova test's were used up..The test's from Gene Orient are imported by Tanner Pharma an American company with a small operation in the UK. There are several contract's showing on Bidstats. So far there doesn't seem to be any feedback on how good they are.
