Different interpretation from how shorting was explained to me.....

Shorter 'borrows' shares.....sells them at current price........buys back at lower price and returns the shares to the organisation they borrowed from......to make money they need to buy at a lower price....if the price jumps due to a shortage of shares that they can purchase they get burnt.....

the point was they were both played by the shorters....those that held their nerve were rewarded......I was in that number but sold at just over £2 so 'just' doubled my money....dont think it can happen here?....time will tell.....
