Disagree with 'could be nothing'. We have the patent. In the highly unlikely event it's not SEE tech we would still earn from the patent. Personally, we have mentioned BMW a few times and were on their stand at shows so I'm convinced.
âThrough our partnership with Seeing Machines, indie can implement robust in-cabin driver and occupant monitoring functionality at truly breakthrough performance levels while simplifying hardware and software stack requirements and, in turn, significantly reducing system complexity and total cost.â3 Jan 2023

In a world where technological advancements are rapidly transforming the automotive industry, the 2024 BMW 5 Series is set to deliver a groundbreaking feature â the ability to steer the vehicle with just your eyes. This innovative functionality is a testament to BMWâs commitment to providing cutting-edge driving experiences for its customers.
The eye-tracking technology deployed in the 2024 BMW 5 Series is designed to make driving more intuitive, safer, and engaging. While this system may sound futuristic, itâs based on robust research and development carried out by BMW engineers and automotive experts.
How does this eye-steering technology work? The answer lies in sophisticated cameras and sensors incorporated into the cabin. These devices capture data related to the driverâs eye movements, gaze direction, and even their blink frequency. Machine learning algorithms then process this information and translate it into steering inputs for the vehicle.
One of the primary benefits of such technology is enhancing driver safety. By observing the driverâs eyes, the system can detect signs of fatigue and distraction, prompting audio or visual alerts to encourage drivers to stay alert or take a break. In cases where the driver doesnât react to these warnings, the car may automatically initiate precautionary measures such as decelerating or maintaining lane position.
Eye-steering technology also offers increased driver engagement by enabling seamless interaction with advanced infotainment systems. By merely looking at an item on the display screen, drivers can accept calls, change radio stations or access navigation without taking their hands off the wheel.
Moreover, in semi-autonomous driving scenarios, eye-tracking technology can be utilized to ensure that drivers are paying attention while monitoring traffic conditions as their vehicle handles steering and speed autonomously. In case the system detects a lack of attention from drivers in such situations, it can send an alert or trigger takeover assistance.
Although eye-steering functionality might seem like a quantum leap forward, BMW is confident that it will be well received by drivers. The integration of this technology into the 2024 BMW 5 Series is adaptive and ensures a smooth transition for users. For those who are wary of relying entirely on eye movement for steering, the conventional hand-operated controls will still be available.
The 2024 BMW 5 Series eye-steering technology showcases not only the continuous innovation within the automotive industry but also BMWâs commitment to delivering safer, more intuitive and engaging driving experiences. The future certainly looks bright for car enthusiasts and those seeking the most advanced technologies in their vehicles.

I've always assumed the amount of posts re electric vehicles is because they are a significant portion of new models, which tend to have DMS/Driver assist tech.
As far as midget wacko is concerned: anyone posting here needs to be pretty clued up on Driver Assist developments because it's been researched to death by the incumbents. He/She is simply noise and offers no insight either way.
"The approval was granted to Level 3 Mercedes-Benz 'DRIVE PILOT' system that allows a driver to legally take their eyes off the wheel but must be available to resume control in need."
Hands, surely?
IMO this is to show that the market doesn't even know about DMS, let alone OMS and definitely not who makes the software/hardware solutions. I guess we can only hope for a steep climb of the hockey stick once they do.
