RE: Valeo in trucks16 Nov 2024 13:46
Interesting as this is Trucks not cars, this appears to be the key bit from the article linked in the post.
"To reduce accidents due to fatigue, distraction or phone use, it is important to detect the driver's condition in a timely manner. Valeo offers a Driver Monitoring System (DMS), which integrates an interior camera and an electronic control unit (ECU) to monitor driver behavior. Using real-time analysis, the DMS quickly detects signs of fatigue or distraction and alerts the driver to refocus on the road. In addition, the system allows the driver to maintain optimal alertness and optimal control of the vehicle at all times. Using sensors and cameras in the driver's cab, the DMS records the driver's behavior and enables proactive adjustments for a safer, personalized journey. It thus increases safety and meets legal requirements by continuously assessing the driver's attention, reducing the risk of fatigue and distraction. EU Regulation No. 2019/2144 regulates in detail when such drowsiness warning systems with event-related data storage must be implemented in which vehicle types and which requirements for data retrieval, privacy protection and data security must be met."
