RE: RNS / interview3 Dec 2019 01:14
Pressing Baylan for a decision date for us at the conference would have been improper behaviour, in my opinion. I do still feel Kurt can press for a timeline via written communication though, considering Baylan would not meet with him. The problem seems to be solvable, if only the Minister would get together with the companies and work together to achieve an outcome.
As for a potential legal challenge from those against a mine, if we pressed for a timeline and the Government gave one, that is a nonsense, in my opinion. Simply because of the length of time already lapsed and the deviations in this process since our application was first submitted. We'll soon be entering our seventh calendar year of waiting, which is more than ridiculous and wholly unacceptable. If we legally merit the concession award, I also don't see any challenge against us receiving the award having any grounds whatsoever.
It's not as if our application has only been in for three weeks and we are trying to push the Government around. It's about time we had fairness in play, coupled with a bit of clarity. The problem being that some of us appear to be accepting, even now, the Government still offering no specifics, no time for a conclusion. Well, our business has been damaged, simply because we have been subjected to the vague and largely fobbed off at every turn.
I stand by what I say. If we've heard nothing further later this month, I want specifics as to what the Government is actually doing to resolve our particular problem. What stage is this supposed dossier at, and how long will it take to complete etc. Baylan cannot just keep telling Kurt a decision is "forthcoming". That's a bull5hit response to a serious problem, in my humble.
Details please, and, if necessary, refer to our legal team.
Night all.
