RE: In other Jokkmokk news7 Feb 2020 20:50
Yes Andy, the point being that we have a green operation planned and it would only be a minor inconvenience to the Sami herding the deer, if at all. No direct environmental impact. It's more a question, I feel, of the Sami not wanting their noses out of joint in their quest to inhabit and roam the Earth under only their own rules, which they feel entitled to do, regardless of State rules or the wellbeing of anyone else, including fellow countrymen. The major consequences of a mine would only really be the damage to their ego, nothing more. Not to their lifestyle. In reality, a minor inconvenience at best, and yet a major boost to everyone else in the area. For the jobless, those who would otherwise be forced to leave their homes, and for those businesses in Jokkmokk.
Greta, I'm trusting that she'll be looking at the Jokkmokk situation from all angles. She can't afford to show any bias, in my opinion, by overlooking a green operation just because the Sami may not like it. Otherwise she loses her credibility going forward. She has to be fair and give credit to new industry where due, if it is environmentally friendly.
All in my opinion Andy.
Cheers.
