Thanks Sooz. I'm not sure who is talking about this possible referral of our case to UNESCO, it could be hot air, when the KU meeting re our Kallak application is supposedly clandestine, if I'm right. Anyway, if the Government is directed to do that, I'm hoping that because we have followed UNESCO guidelines for the HIA, lodged a concession application where nobody could specifically state where it falls short in any area, and with the Laponia buffer zone (Unesco mentioned), it shouldn't take very long for UNESCO to refer the case back to the Government, pointing to the guidelines we've followed and the fact that there's more than enough information in the concession application itself for a decision to be made. I'm sure UNESCO would also be bloody chuffed to bits that we've completed a non-essential HIA, in terms of it not being a typical requirement for a concession licence. They would hopefully see it as being a most helpful and thoughtful addition, confirming our Company's commitment to this project, by its very inclusion.
If the Government is directed by the KU to send our application to UNESCO though, then obviously it will only extend the already appallingly long time taken for conclusion of our case. The KU is only examining the Government's handling of our case and not focusing on BEM, I know that, but if ineptitudes are found in this process, lol, why then add to the time and woe further for us, when we've already had to endure seven and a half years of random merry-go-round treatment? I'm hoping the KU does see that what it recommends could affect us in terms of more time, further financial strife re sp etc.
We've also had the in-depth legal review undertaken, which basically shows our concession application to be bulletproof, and that it would stand up to any test in court. Maybe Kurt can ensure that both the Government and KU are reminded of that.
Sooz, as we know, any move Kurt makes is totally independent of anything the KU does. If the unfairness continues for us from the Government after the review, then Kurt must act to protect our interests.
