I agree about the tedium though, but we can hack it. This should and must be a big year for us. It's long overdue, but we have the money to get things done. Including the implementation of legal action, if required.

Thanks Sooz, helpful that. The existing policies are good, it's the admin and implementation that needs an overhaul. Timescales would make everything efficient and people more accountable.

Aug, it's taking a long time for these thousand words. Maybe the folks at UNESCO are doing a word a day, and then they will use a Sinclair ZX80 to process the final collated response. Lol.

Kurt's comment has weight, well, we feel that it does, but the Government has so far got away with seeing it differently and acted accordingly. Does Baylan therefore feel that Kurt's comment has weight? That would be the question. I very much hope and trust that he does, but if not, the PM should.

I do see your point, but I was really trying to convey more along the lines of us not trying to strike some sort of a deal with the Sami, not while our concession applicaton remains pending. We should surely at this time only be dealing with those responsible for the concession delivery, that is, the Government. If we take up another route, as you mention, the nuclear option as one, then that will obviously be directed towards the Government. I don't disagree with what you've said.

Perhaps an approach could be for Kurt to write to the PM, if he cannot ascertain from
Baylan's lot whether this UNESCO referral has no time limit set for the Government to then follow it up. Five months or thereabouts already. Government failings without those failings being rectified in a timely fashion won't look good for big Stef.

Yes, and the Sami peoples are not responsible for deciding nor tasked with whether we receive the concession or not, based on our application content. The Government is, so we need to stick to the process, however haphazard it has been, and not, in my view, be trying to strike a deal alongside the process. We have completed an application based on existing rules and official guidelines set by the Government not by the Sami and we should be addressing the Government only at this late stage, following the process. Kurt has built the bridges as far as he can with the Sami and maintained that they will be consulted in the development of Kal, included in any future plans. He has been absolutely fair and open, attempted to engage in fact with all who have an interest in Kal, whether for or against a mine. He can do no more now, I feel, without deviating off course and making a nonsense of there being not only an application process, but also the application itself.

Only my thoughts, some will perhaps agree, some won't, but surely Kurt must continue to keep our Company's integrity intact and focus on gaining the concession via the official channels. That must come first. Then he can negotiate a deal, with a full cup.

Good points Aug. I suppose we must continue to trust in Kurt's approach to this UNESCO situation, and this includes the time he's allowing for certain things to happen or otherwise. Difficult for my mind to not be in overdrive with it all, as I'd prefer more facts, particularly as to what has occurred over the last five months. Is our application now freshly ringed with a UNESCO dweeb's coffee stain and commencing to gather dust? Lol.

Frustrating, but your posts have certainly been of help, so thank you for that.

Hi lb. I said he may not be "as" eager not "so" eager. You make a valid point though, Kurt's efforts on our behalf have so far been largely disregarded by Baylan. Hopefully though, such behaviour from Baylan will contribute towards his own undoing.

I'm probably worrying that Kurt won't keep the heat up on the Government now that our application is with UNESCO and he has the other projects very much on the go. I'm proper fed up with it all, so such doubt creeps in. Yes, I feel that Baylan could be asked to supply a decision date for Kal or risk facing the music, but the concern is that he somehow manages to slither sideways out of the picture and hides. Still not taking responsibility for our disgraceful treatment.

Hi Pocko. Yes, I've seen the plans outlined for this year's spending, but I feel Kurt surely can't just do all of that without also forcing the issue re the concession. I can neither picture the next sp discount, lol, nor accept another major fundraise without us having secured the concession, so I'm trusting he will not wait indefinitely on the latest Government stalling tactic, the UNESCO referral. We don't have the inside track on the finer details, why, for example, UNESCO is actually taking so long, whether such a period of time as five months or so and counting is normal, but I want to know that Kurt does plan to keep pressure on the Government, because we are now talking degrees of a disgrace, damage done and continuing, yet it doesn't appear that it will end unless BEM pushes for it. We can use the KU findings to point out that many more months have lapsed and there is still no sign of the Government chasing up on our application or preparing itself to even think of having to make a decision. Lol.

I'm just concerned that with money in the bank and the works planned this year, fully funded, that Kurt may not be as eager to take the Swedes to task.

Afternoon Aug. I'd like to know what Kurt plans to do though. As in, he has already mentioned that the UNESCO referral wasn't necessary, yet has allowed Baylan and co to do just that without kicking up any fuss, as we know. The point being, we are still now back to the issue of waiting, while progress on Kallak remains halted. The Government has still been able to string us along further, without any comeback. So, what is Kurt's plan do you think to prevent another year lost without the concession?
