Hi Aug. The Government is clearly not shy of fleecing BEM. Baylan is only continuing in the role of his predecessor. Both useless in our eyes, but maybe not in the eyes of the coalition. The Greens have held sway and it just may be that we will have to go down the legal route to override this political nightmare.

I really do feel an update on the Kal situation is required now though. I'd like to know what Kurt has in mind to protect our business in Sweden. Waiting for UNESCO indefinitely when it seems our case should not have even been referred to UNESCO is not unlike following a road map into madness. Lol.

Evening Aug. I agree with what you've said. UNESCO has no business (considering that Kal is not near the World Heritage site) in having a say in our business. Well, it can say what it likes, just as long as it doesn't make recommendations to the Government that could be seen as tampering with and hampering the establishment of our 'green' mining project, when it has no jurisdiction or cause to do so. The Government though, would surely welcome anything that could kick its own decision on Kal further down the road, so it's up to Kurt to ensure nothing untoward occurs and put an end to the politics, which is still obviously costing us greatly with each sapping year that passes. I feel it is not unreasonable to make demands now of the Government. Press for a timescale for the Kal decision. The KU has already massively highlighted the Government's extreme failings in the handling of our application, and, alarmingly, this incompetence only continues with the UNESCO referral (as far as we are aware) and the prolonged wait since, the Government not chasing up for the comments.

Just stop it then! Lol.

Thanks Roller. Yes, I'll think about doing that. I'll wait a little while longer though to see if there's an RNS update. I'm unsure as to why Kurt hasn't yet replied to Takayama's email, it's not like him to be unresponsive, no matter the content of our messages, so perhaps it's just a case that an RNS update is due, even though he hasn't yet told Tak that.

Extracover that is a very fair comment. It wouldn't surprise me if the Government letter to UNESCO was still in draft stage. Lol.

Interesting point re UNESCO and us shareholders feeling that it isn't a matter for those folks to be involved with. We know why, as does Kurt of course, so perhaps he could write to the Government and ask for confirmation as to just why Baylan deems it is a matter for UNESCO. Considering the known facts about the lack of any close proximity at all of Kal to Lap and it already having been established that there would be no direct impact etc, therefore no threat to the World Heritage site or status, how does the Government justify the decision to ask UNESCO for comments and delay the process further?

Perhaps Kurt could do something along those lines, if he hasn't already, but he should tell us if he has. It seems to me that an update on the Kal situation is long overdue, because we really don't know what is going on. We only know that the case is still stuck in time awaiting UNESCO comments that should have come, on the face of it, many months ago.

Kallak deposit has also been given the ANI status for mining and is miles away from the current Laponian boundary. There would be difficulties in the redefinition of boundaries, and, why would that be at all necessary anyway? It surely would only be to prevent a mine, which would not be in the national interest and look decidedly dodgy, when considering exploration licences for the area have already been granted by the Government.

As Kurt has mentioned, this is not a matter for UNESCO.

Rune, good if he has done that. I hope he is working hard also to find out why UNESCO still has yet to return comments on our application.

Hi Sooz. I know what you mean, UNESCO being involved does make any Government decision easier, but I think it does still remain to be seen whether the Government has committed itself to making a decision following UNESCO's comments. The hiding places for not doing so are hard to find now, but our application should not have even been referred to UNESCO. What else could the Government come up with after that, I wonder, to carry on sidestepping?

It's also up to Kurt to keep on at the Government so that UNESCO is chased up. Otherwise our application could be sat unread on UNESCO's desk for three years. Lol.

I'm not confident that the Government will chase up UNESCO without a nudge. The Government doesn't care how long it takes. It's obscene how we've been treated and I don't want this to carry on for the rest of the year.

I don't feel it's unreasonable to demand a timescale now from the Government.

I just don't believe the Government wants us to have the licence, even though we merit one, so has now brought this latest addition to the process into play.

If we do roll into the ninth year still waiting for a decision, I want Kurt to demand one. That's how I feel about it now Sooz.

Yes Tops, but it is the Easter hols. Not a lot of trades, but good that the sp is still steady without news. We could do with a Kallak update before long though, considering the many months that have lapsed since UNESCO's invitation to comment on our case by the Government.

Looking more and more like our eight year candle will be lit before a decision on Kal is made. Unreal.
