That is what I am hoping. I think the only reason that we got a trading update at this time last year was because of the sales decline - effectively a profit warning. If the quarter sales are ok, then that might result in half year sales, either flat or slightly ahead - so they might as well announce that in November. Having said all that........this is PFD.......we might get a profit warning later in the week !!!

About half year results on 15th November. Does that mean we are not getting a trading updat for second quarter sales ?

Agreed. PFD have been using the weather excuse since Adam was a lad. I remember when I worked for them 10 years ago, the directors were saying �we must stop being so winter/Christmas dependent� Successive BOD�s have done sod all about it......apart from frozen custard !!!!!!

Iv�e got deja vu.........I had this same conversation with myself this time last year. If you remember we were waiting for GD�s first instalment of his 2-4% sales growth. The shares were standing at about 50p then. I didn�t press the buy button then, and luckily it was the right decision. I agree that things are a little different this time. I think that most of us are expecting poor half year results. But what if this time he is going to pull a rabbit out ???? As you say, surely he wouldn�t have spent Mrs GD�s money just before the closed period for no reason........ I still don�t think I will risk it though......look forward to you telling me �I told you so�

Well, that�s the half year ended, so presumably we get a trading update within the next couple of weeks. Given that GD has given up his quest for sales growth and is concentrating on cash generation, who knows what we will get !! As usual, I will be hoping for good news......but expecting bad.

Are you sure that there is a trading update before the half year results in November ? I know that we got one in early October last year, but maybe that was just to impart bad news re sales. There wasn�t anything in the Pfd financial diary last time I looked, but maybe they will announce it after the end of the month

I care. I have been retired from PFD for 6 years now, shareholder for many years before that. Thought Schofield had cracked it when he bought RHM - DISASTER !! I will stick with it though........maybe good times are just around the corner................

Half year results due 15th November. Last year we got a quarterly sales update in October, but that was when he delivered his first bit of bad news ie. sales decline. Strictly speaking we should get a sales update in October, but they haven’t announced a date for it yet. Hope that helps

This is why I think you should push the buy button: 1. As you say, last Q2 results were so bad, surely they can't be worse this year 2. Surely it must be time for the Nissin effect to kick in 3. The change in promotion strategy by the majors should be about flushed through by now - that was partly the reason for the sales decline 12 months ago 4. Hopefully exports continue to grow 5. Mrs Darby pressed the buy button 6. It's about time the "increase shareholder value" advisors reported back So there are six good reasons for you......"have you topped up" I hear you asking ? - no.....for the same reason as you, I suspect !!

More good news today.........does this mean that we are building up for another GD profit warning ?.......it was quite warm at the weekend.

When GD started he bought 750,000 shares at 93p. PFD gave him the same amount. So I guess that gives him a break even of around 46p on that lot. So given that, he maybe has plenty of CGT losses of his own. Having said that he will have been given loads of share options at a very favorable price since then. So you might me right Oldtimer.
