I agree with your observations. I can’t see Gores exiting Hovis anytime soon and it does make sense for Pfd to wait until they do.
I’m afraid I don’t see any reasons for optimism at the moment

I wonder if the 49% share in Hovis could be the key to this.
Back in 2018 I wrote to the then chairman Keith Hammill. Asking him why pfd didn’t sell their 49% share. This was his reply:
Dear
On the Hovis point we do not want to make a formal statement, but what I can say is that:
1. We have said the business is performing well.
2. It would normally be assumed that the 49% would be more valuable if it was sold with the 51%.
3. The time horizon of the private equity fund owning the 51% for holding an investment would mean normally mean that they would looking for an exit next year.

Since then I understand that Hovis have been recovering well. I was expecting their current owners to exit last year, but that didn’t happen. I obviously don’t know what 49% of Hovis is worth....if anything....but maybe it might provide a way forward for premier.
Any views ?

JP Morgan are not buying. They are selling and have now gone below the 5% threshold. That’s what the last RNS said

I agree with both of you. If it wasn’t for the pension issue then PFD should be roaring away. It’s the year end next week. I don’t think that they usually issue a trading update for the 4th quarter, they usually just wait for the results announcement in mid may.
Also they may not wish to be seen to be making a shed load of money out of the crisis.
I guess the other issue, if we can look beyond the next few months, is what will people do when they realise that they have bought five years supply of ambrosia custard ?

Is the closing price of pfd on Friday a 7.18% gain on the day.
This price isn’t showing on here. I noticed that this happened one day earlier this week, except it was the other way around....a last minute 2p fall.
Anyone got any idea why ? Maybe LSE closes before others.

If the result of the strategic review is to trade our way out of debt, then the Board, Nissan, Oasis and Paulson should be honest enough to tell us. Then we can settle back for another ten years of sp stagnation.
