Gordon Stein, CFO of CleanTech Lithium, explains why CTL acquired the 23 Laguna Verde licenses. Watch the video here.
They have a declared open short on a JV partner of a company for which they are providing "financial advice" in a takeover bid. A company that owns 30% of an NCM asset. The short materially affects that asset and materially affects the valuation of the NCM JV partner.
I cannot see that being anything other than a conflict of interest.
You mean this JPM?
From todays NCM announcement to the market:
Newcrest has engaged J.P. Morgan and Gresham Advisory Partners as its financial advisers and Herbert Smith
Freehills as its legal adviser.
Surely a conflict of interest to have an open short on a JV partner of a company who are subject to an indicative offer?
One thing about mushroomkid LA, is that he certainly knows his onions..
Great thread Bamps.
We had some great characters on the board in those days, an altogether more pleasurable experience compared to the cesspit the board has become.
I'll go back into hiding now, good luck to all the genuine guys left on here.
Peace out.
Great post Floater..
Great to see a positive board and a few old faces returning to the fold. It's a crying shame that many will have been robbed of their hard earned shares whilst the City boys have milked GGP dry, but hopefully this short-driven cull will have resulted in a hardier, ballsier retail investor demographic.
I have a warm feeling that we're about to embark on an upward curve similar to the stellar rise to 38p. The fundamentals are off the scale, we are as derisked as any junior minor could ever be, we're advancing the decline at a rate of knots and production is ever closer. Most importantly, the short is history.
Hopefully, the recent shockingly low price level has allowed more retail investors to build stock, locked and loaded for the inevitable rise.
We've been here before boys and girls, strap in for the ride of your lives.
Best wishes to you all - Dodge.
Geodave - a blast from the past mate
Had a soft spot for mushroomkid personally, just made me laugh out loud.
Speak of the devil.......LMAO.
Aaaah, those heady days when we hit 12p then stayed at that level for what seemed an eternity. The 27p auction after the bell when GDXJ sent us into a frenzy.
The difference on this forum to the cesspit it became, is truly chalk and cheese, but great to see a few old names pop up recently. Through starry eyes, my good friends, I yearn for a return of the classic threads of old, the good humour, the informative posts. The personalities. Yes, we had our trolls, but they seemed to be a different, all the more pleasant breed, than our current naysayers.
I might even dip my toe in the water again....even though a nutter on here still seems to think I'm Tymers : )

@CherchezLaDeniro - can you explain to me how the correlation of your post count to mine is relevant to the point I made? I'll admit I used to be a far more active poster, but mostly in the early days of our journey to a Tier 1 discovery, when there was a hell of a lot more to talk about. I also admit that I used to take umbrage at any naysayers and masters of the dark arts, but over time I realised it was pointless. As the risk has declined, so have my posts. Interesting that you say you agree with the points raised in my post, but felt the need to have a dig at the same time.
If you have been across this board for as long as you say, then you'll know that "ducks" is a recurring theme on here since Donald was a fledgling. Ducks have been fed on here for a long time my friend.
There's a certain irony that your response has now doubled my 30 day post count, don't you think?
Yet another set of gold-lined results with the drill bit doing the only talking that I have any interested in. The rest of the talking, whether it be on this forum...other forums...telegram groups...smoke filled speak-easy's in rural England...is just white noise & bluster.
Here lies the problem with many an investment on AIM. Too much credence is given to rumour, conspiracy theory and downright lies. Milestones are missed on AIM. Directors spin results in any direction that suits their ever shifting agenda. The AIM investor is bled for funds mostly to support lifestyle & car-crash decisions over which we have no control. Forums are infested with fluffers and egotistical charlatans who have no agenda other than to relieve you of your hard-earned cash.
It's all about RISK and how you see the direction of that risk. Ignore what our resident former MM's/brokers/bankers/diggers/geologists (delete as appropriate) project on an faceless internet forum. Ignore whether todays finger-in-the-air guesstimate is 5m, 10m or 50m ounces. Ignore todays gold price. Ignore the clairvoyants predictions of 50p, £1.....£1.44.
Ask yourself only one question. Does this latest RNS increase or decrease the risk I have taken by investing in GGP? If the answer is "yes" then you have a decision to make. If the answer is "no" then stay invested, maybe top-up or go do something else. Take a walk, feed the ducks.
It really is that simple.
See you all in a few weeks for the next instalment. In the meantime, no amount of hand-wringing or mud-slinging on here will change anything...apart from your blood pressure, your aspect on life and quite probably your bank balance.

@hydro - Meanwhile, OUR Joint Broker JBER, are facilitating the short by controlling the SP on a daily basis. Today being a case in point @ 13.9p on the ask, when the nearest MM is at 14.5p. Thereby, working hand-in-glove AGAINST the best interests of the PI's who have supported the company through its development from a micro-cap penny share junior to its current m-cap of £560m.
Poacher & gamekeeper come to mind and for the life of me I cannot see how our JOINT BROKER can get away with such a flagrant show of utter contempt for the 80% PI ownership of GGP.
Get rid.
Come on @SpadesAspade, get with the programme. According to some nutters on here, me and Tymers are one and the same and have managed to dupe the board for 4 years plus. So, I am actually pimping myself out...wow...analyse that.
Thanks for the feedback JS, asking pertinent questions and representing us mere PI's so eloquently. Your last post contains, for me, the single most important factor as we move forward into the bigboy world of global mining. Forget 5% negotiations, forget shorts, forget the conspiracy theories of the asylum.
"So NC are learning - slowly - that GGP isnt the old GGP. Its a proper jv partner"
Maybe it's time for us, as 80% shareholders, to grow some balls and lose the damned inferiority complex that pervades this board.
"Ride in, and ride outa Dodge as quick as you can hoping to pick up a few pieces of silver along the way"
@SpadesAspade - if you're going to pimp me out, at least call me first...
The Berenberg grip on the current SP is very tight.
Since dropping to 14.9 on the Ask we have had circa 32 tickets at FULL ASK, totalling approximately 1,200,000 shares, with no subsequent movement in SP. No share in my portfolio behaves in such a manner. How many times have you heard the phrase "full ask being peppered"..."uptick coming"...."buying pressure, she's got to move"....
None of the above apply to GGP. Nada. Zilch.
Our friends at Berenberg are complicit in keeping the interests of the 80% PI ownership of GGP way down the pecking order.
Get rid.
The sooner we get rid of Berenberg the better.
"Our view: We view these results as neutral for the company as there is little new information beyond the cash number. The main catalysts for the stock should be i) ongoing exploration results from Havieron; ii) Progress towards the completion of the feasibility study at Havieron that is scheduled for completion in Q4 2022. iii) Progress on the early works programme at Havieron and iv) Progress with the negotiations with Newcrest in relation of the acquisition of an additional 5% of the project by Newcrest".
That's where the release should end, but no it doesn't...
"We believe that this process could be both contentious and protracted"
They act as our Joint broker & financial adviser, so I ask myself why this was added at the end of the release? What purpose does it serve other than to undermine PI confidence? Is a comment like that sanctioned by GGP? Is it just a glib, throw away & wholly subjective comment.....or something more sinister?
Meanwhile, there sit Berenberg at 14.9 on the ask,0.5 below the nearest MM, quietly holding the SP at the level they need to assist their co-conspirators.
Make your own judgement guys, but for me, guilty as charged m'lord.
Get rid.
"@Tymers and Dodge...same poster....but try to hide it with Tymers inclusive lack of grammar and spelling ....so obvious"
@daveri007 - you are joking, right?
Whilst I applaud the mobilisation of PI power and this PI power will have its day if we ever have to defend ourselves against hostile low ball offers, I kind of agree with StarBright.
We have an experienced BoD and a ballsy CEO to look after our best interests. We have representation on the JV committee and we are privy to all data. We have our very own Callum Baxter.
Let them fulfil their remit guys.
@sanibel
It's becoming more obvious that we have an extraordinary asset, maybe beyond our wildest expectations. NCM have a hard on for this asset for a reason and this posturing all but confirms it.
