Paul1D - . I would advise you that I have links to the Armenian diaspora over here but thank you very much for directing me to "Turkish Perspective" which is well written and illuminating . It is well known that De Gaulle was an anglophobe until death and there was mutual dislike between Winston, Franklin D , Uncle Joe and the General. "Perfidious Albion" again?
I think it unwise and perhaps unreasonable to continue this Off-Topic matter on this board, especially as I feel you and I have reached an impasse on Brexit, most probably because I have no affinity with the hard right and I feel that David Edgerton's article, which I have referred you to in "The Guardian", is nevertheless a a fair assessment of capitalistic progression in UK. Currently I see a 1% world order of wealthy, ambitious, powerful (or power-hungry) and perhaps even corrupt people who are intent on selfishly maintaining or even improving their position and lifestyle on this planet. I believe that Boris Johnson and Donald Trump to be among them together with the more famous (or infamous) historically-established financiers, bankers and the sort of "cabals" represented by the so-called "Bilderbergers" and similar . Having said that, I do not consider myself Marxist or left of center. The mistake of the Labour Party, imho, was to choose Ed Milliband instead of his brother David as successor to Gordon Brown. Thereafter it's gone badly downhill to the depths of Corbyn & Diane Abbot!
So, Paul1D, Enjoy your 2½ decades of snooze and awake to citizenship of our 51st State. (lolol)
Meantime our Ariana sp had seriously tumbled by the time I woke up this morning. Not too good but it's probably because of the Turkish incursion into Northern Syria and world concern for the safety of our (former?) Kurdish allies. Maybe for the first time our AAU investment is being unfortunately (literally!) affected by the geopolitics of the region. ?
