Any interesting articles about the news aside from The Grauniads expected response? The Times has a half page devoted to it, factual but with a picture of “Samuel Moody” who does not look like I thought he would, but no link I can post. The Express has no mention at all, but they’re not noted for their business pages! Hopefully tomorrow The Investor’s Chronicle will give us a nice write up. Lovely to see ALL FI shares inc BOR and ARG riding the coat tails of this.. We have waited a long time to see an upturn. Might be just the right time for these companies to get their rightful recognition in the global energy world. Rock on Rockhopper!
Is there a minimum % threshold of shares needed in order to launch a TO or farm in?
Well it’s very useful to know! I was starting to sweat , ( or glow as we ladies say!) at the prospect of paying CGT if this carries on rising! Anyhow, I hope that’s useful info to others too
Sorry.. my brain is buzzing today..is there a minimum % that someone has to hold before they could declare a takeover bid? I know the Calgary boys are building, but I just wondered if there’s a legal baseline for them or anyone else to TO?
Which I’d be fine with… my intention is only ever to withdraw my CGT allowance for a specific year, inc bed and isa’ing my ISA allowance in order to shift over to financial “safety” in the isa wrapper! If this rise is sustained, it will be the first share I’ve had to seriously think about this! My remaining RKH sit looking mournfully at me from within the ISA! I wish I’d sold the rest last week in exchange for BOR, but then I’m ever the optimist that something may happen there too… I think all FI shares have a symbiotic relationship, so we will see… v happy with BOR for sure!
Flundra. That was my initial thought, because it’s not as though I would CHOOSE to sell that amount of shares to cause such a big CGT voluntarily…
If BOR got taken over and we were offered shares in the new company, at a higher price ( say 20p a share) would we be liable for CGT on the profit gained as the company took over, even if effectively we had no choice but than to accept the offer? I had DES and FOGL , both of which were taken over and I don’t seem to think we were taxed on those but I can’t recall. I understand that obviously if we then sold them in the future there’d be a CGT charge, so I’m talking purely about IF we get a takeover bid. Thanks in advance.
Just managed to top at 4.09p. Not going to be at that price for long now. Happy days
Yes I got m initial ones at the end of the month and then all I’d requested as extras appeared a few days later
Yes, I took a punt on some ARG and BOR a few weeks ago, figuring that they may get some knock on effect from the RKH news. I’ve been in RKH for many years now, and like most of us, am hoping for good news soon that will impact positively on that whole area. GLA
Yeah I’ve just thought this through and cancelled the BED and ISA request. If it takes 2 weeks to go through and the price shoots up in that time, I’ll be in capital gain not loss. Better to hold out til Friday and buy straight into the ISA I think. I want this share to rocket, but if it could be kind enough to wait til Friday...
Was hoping the price would stay low til Friday when I get proceeds from my house sale, so I could do this years ISA, but have decided to bite the bullet and BED and ISA some of my existing GDR shares instead. Will bring the average cost down on those shares, depending on how long they take to process my request. Last year it took almost 2 weeks with ii!
