RE: SPI buy recommendation investors chronicle25 Oct 2024 11:46
Was not aware, thanks. After digging, I see that they have set aside provisions, received insurance money, and already started to book a credit from the reduction in money held for a pay out - all in final results Feb 24.
You could also note the NHS has already paid out, perhaps setting a precedent. Agree this will be a headwind, but it does already seem to be known and accounted for. Maybe it conversely encourages a TO while sentiment is on the floor, Spire are on the hook for less than £20M of their own money (from what I can see) verses an operating profit yearly of £100M and a £1B company valuation, kind of lost in the rounding. Not wishing to trivialise the events in any way which are deeply disturbing. Thanks for mentioning this.
I felt the price was exceptionally weak recently, and also in the low of a channel. This stock is always being recommended by the industry, so I thought it was worth having a few.
