Im wondering if there were some short sellers under the radar here. Judging from the price action today, it looks like someone else is buying.

I calculated this morning, 25M is only about 3%, I wasnt expecting much of a rise TBH.

Perhaps this short just went wrong, once Coronation started buying. I wonder if they thought, well they cant keep buying...but they did...then the company started! LOL. (This had v high short interest earlier this year).

I also think it is a signal to market that the biz is performing well, I doubt they would start a buy back if things had deteriorated further.

I think its worth considering Glenstone REIT. It seems that they acquired 25% of AIRE by tender in 2020 (circa £12M). 11,855,461 AIRE Shares, representing 14.73% of AIRE's issued share capital. They have a non exec on the board of AIRE - Adam Smith.

They have sold 0.75M shares this year. But they seem to be the larger fish out of the two. They are also less geared at only 17%.

Perhaps their is some scope for a reverse takeover to get Glenstone on to the MM? (I have no idea about how good the TISE stock exchange is).

The buy back was only for £1M if I recall correctly.

August poor liquidity. The article linked below by half penny is very re-assuring. Im glad rick is cognisant of shareholder returns. I did trim a few at £1.20, but this was based on it exceeding a maximum size in my pf. One to hold otherwise. I'm also glad that he hasnt done an acquisition for a while, hopefully he lets all the contingent considerations unwind, this would look a lot better.

Effective today it is commencing a share repurchase programme of its ordinary shares up to a maximum aggregate consideration of £25 million.

Apparently there is 'Loads of money' to spare at Bytes.

Partners Group Private Equity (PEYS) rallied noticeably, which may be from the read-across from a landmark take-private deal for peer Apax Global Alpha (APAX), which tops our final ‘expensive’ table this week. PEYS remains on a 23.4% discount.

Topped up today. There is no stamp duty on this share.

Co's like this really need to be buying back stock. I know they have debt to pay, but what with the investment pf, they could be doing more to effectively increase their shareholder returns. Even £1m would go a long way.

I would expect these shorts to take weeks to cover. They will sit here, now they have dropped the bid, and collect it in.

FWIW, I think a wyckoff accumulation pattern may occur here, but it could be too early to say if the selling climax is over. If that is the case, you would expect a high volume bar on the daily and that is you signal to enter. That will be fund exiting vs short seller closing. Could play out over 10 to 30 days ball park.

Thats why im taking it easy accumulating.

Avocet123 adds nothing to the conversation here. Could actually be a bot, if you look it posts the same thing on multiple shares. It is about as tedious as the pop up adverts on this site.

Regarding GBG, there must be sellers needing to exit before the move to MM, it may go lower, or we may have hit the level at which buyers step in. My strategy is to buy a little on a regular basis (I have no transaction costs in IG), im happy with my average and can take plenty more if they go on offer.

I would imagine that next year after the move to MM this could re rate back above £3 easily. Thats without much change in fundamentals.

Coronation are a south African outfit. Bytes is also listed on the JSE, (when it was floated). There seems to be some SA connection, but I have not really got to the bottom of that. Its pretty crazy to wonder where the stock has come from for coronation to buy, and had they not, this could be quite miserable!

I have been a holder for some time, and did research Coronation. It does not look like they get involved in take overs, but I do think this size position building is unusual. On the contrary, they could block a take over. Its positive either way when professional investors take large stakes in stocks you hold.

Hi, I was going over some numbers. On the face of it, 50k shares sounded low for the buy back, but stop and consider that at £2.21 (yesterdays VWAP) that would have cost £110,500. Actually the buy back is quite significant at that level, returning £1M every 9 days. In theory GBG can run the buy back for around 200 days at that level. I will certainly get some more, when funds permit.

I sold out of here recently, as I think it is just too geared to the UK economy, which is tanking IMO. The very buyers of the products that the borrowers are financing are truly the ones in Labours cross hairs. I don't often exit positions on what might happen, but in my portfolio this is the one with most to lose I feel. Good luck to the company, great guys IMO, just not a great time to be invested here. Update mid September by the looks of it.

I do not quite understand your question, but I have live prices. Sometimes when I buy on Interactive investor, I do not see the trade go through. I suspect that being a large broker they probably are happy to combine trades and buy a large block at the end of the day. They may even match up to sellers.

It could just be that you are using poor data, like Google or worse still this site! You also have the spread being manipulated constantly on stocks like this, so if you do not have live prices you cannot really tell what is going on.

Yeah, I would definitely want global facing companies. GB Group’s strength lies in the fact that its products cover North America, Europe, Australia & Asia. Some great bargains out there, (due to holidays more than economics I think). I am happy to accumulate GBG at lower prices. I think once the debt is paid down, this could easily yield 8 or 9% at todays price alone.

I would be careful here, as the price was also spiked up in Sept 24 on a similar unfounded rumour, which happened to coincide with GLG increasing their short. I have long been suspicious of rumours on GLG shorts (Spire health care also).

That said, I do hold AMS in the hope of a take over, and I think it will happen one day. Until then, this is quite an unrewarding investment, and one I would be looking to add to around the £1.90 mark which happens from time to time. My average is over £2.20 so still under water even on Fridays spike. I think the prospects for the company look excellent in terms of earnings growth forecast, which is why I suspect it will be taken over before that materialises.

I also added a little today. Suspected it would hit 220. One to slowly accumulate I think, the buy back is not enough, weird it is caped at 50k shares each day.
